happy national girls and women in sports day 🩷 ten slides isn’t enough to capture it all but it will never ever be lost on me that i owe all of my blessings to the game of basketball. my family immigrated to canada when i was 5 and my parents got me into sports from an early age (and always in good sneakers 👟😜).
while my hoop dreams may not have come true, i’ve been fortunate to stay close to the sport through my career. it’s taken me all over the world and allowed me to work with all of my dream brands. i’ve worked on campaigns (slide 1 and 2 is an @adidas commercial i co-wrote with my good friend), i’ve been in campaigns, i’ve seen my face on billboards in toronto’s dundas square and scotiabank arena, nyc’s times square, hollywood, and even in manila.
best of all, i’ve been able to share my blessings not just with my family and friends, but also to empower other women to my best ability using my position and resources.
sports set up a strong foundation for the woman i would eventually come to be and the women i now get to call my friends and peers. through sports i learned discipline, leadership, humility, perseverance, teamwork, and more.
to anyone reading this, i hope it encourages you to keep pursuing your dreams. and most of all, i hope it encourages you to keep supporting young girls in sport because it can literally change their lives.
dreams don’t exist until you create them ✨✨✨
