One year of Daily Drawing! 👀 ✍️
Inspired by a project we set at Kingston to do an observational drawing each day. As a tutor it's good to put your money where your mouth is. After carrying around a dedicated sketchbook each month... I've got 365 drawings to scan in! Not necessarily 'good' ones but a document of time, of looking, of dedicating time each day, of dragging myself out to see something and be in the world. In a tough year I've been grateful for that.
I hope the students who try this get as much from it as I have. It is a joy to talk to people about drawing regularly, what a treat. This project has given me more bravery and ideas to put back into teaching. 🎓

My funny and mischievous old dad Nick "Vern" Fitton isn't with us anymore. It's unbelievable really, for someone larger than life and so full of energy.
I've gained many characteristics and interests from Vern; creativity, a dramatic flair, storytelling, an ability to walk up stairs (almost) silently, a love of music and art, observing the world, doing impressions, a passion for giving compliments, curiousity, teaching, being too loud in the morning, his eyebrows.
He meant so much to so many people and it's an impossible task to do justice to the many lives he lead from beloved teacher to fishing legend to eccentric man at a bus stop finding out your life story. It's been lovely to hear and tell stories about him and I'm sure that will continue for years to come.
Every day will be a little bit worse without the potential of him in it. We'll miss you duck, lots of love.
