@51n4e (mandataire) with @plancomun_ , @atmos.lab , @lafayette_architectes , Aïda , Artelia, Creaspace, Cronos Conseil, Diese, Egitura, @etablissement_paysage @vpeas and @charlesdaubas Special thanks for the set of renders to @out.of.ram

@51n4e (mandataire) with Aïda , Artelia, @atmos.lab , Creaspace, Cronos Conseil, Diese, Egitura, @etablissement_paysage @lafayette_architectes @plancomun_ , @vpeas @charlesdaubas Renders by @out.of.ram

At the initiative of the President of the French Republic, the international Quartiers de Demain consultation aims to transform ten neighborhoods and create a national dynamic in support of urban policies of the 21st century. The consultation will enable the realization of projects that will have an impact across the neighborhoods and beyond, addressing the needs of local inhabitants and making an exemplary contribution to the ecological transition. @51n4e participated in the Quartier de Saige site in Pessac, which consists of the refurbishment and adaptive reuse of Tower 8, with the potential for replication, as well as the development of a green corridor linking the neighborhood to the town center and university campus. Our project aims to bring new life to this neighborhood and to reconnect with its ambitions of fifty years ago, not through grand gestures, but through a renewal grounded in what already exists. Small but precise interventions can have a significant impact. The 51N4E project for Saige is based on a simple idea: making the most of what already exists in order to fully reveal its potential. It includes a carefully renovated tower, an active ground floor with a generous new volume that allows for new productive functions, and the creation of three urban centralities that diversify uses while preserving the identity of the neighborhood. #rubypress publication No. 57: „Lacaton & Vassal. It’s Nice Today: On Climate, Comfort, and Pleasure“, edited by Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal. With Atmos Lab. Lacaton & Vassal are the architects who brought greenhouses from the realm of agriculture into architecture. This book tells the story of their relentless exploration of such structures as a tool for a more fluid transition between indoors and outdoors. In a career spanning more than three decades, Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal have completed more than 20 projects—both conversions and new constructions—that incorporate greenhouses and winter gardens: single-family homes, apartment complexes, cultural and commercial structures, and large scale urban developments. They have all demonstrated the efficiency of winter gardens as thermal buffers, yet because standard calculation models weren’t applicable to such designs, it was difficult to quantify their insulating effect. To better understand the positive impact of this technology, Lacaton & Vassal teamed up with environmental design consultancy Atmos Lab to make detailed, long-term measurements at four of their projects comparing their thermal performance under different conditions. This book presents the methodology and results of that endeavour, providing scientific proof that winter gardens and greenhouses can act as efficient thermal buffers, reducing heating and cooling costs while providing users with a generous space to enjoy sun, natural light, and views.
