In a first-of-its-kind, three-year partnership, @theatlantic is bringing its journalism aboard @seabourncruise voyages—through editorial conversations spanning culture and books, business and science, health and tech. The program will culminate in 2028 with a route takeover inspired by The Atlantic Festival. That 12-day voyage will travel from Montreal to Boston—where The Atlantic was founded in 1857.

Last week in Miami, we held “The Atlantic Across America: Florida” at the Knight Media Forum. The event featured a panel with The Atlantic’s national security reporters — Tom Nichols, Missy Ryan, and Nancy A. Youssef — on press freedoms, national voting trends, and America’s shifting foreign policies. Our managing director for events, Evan Smith, interviewed Martin Baron, former executive editor of The Washington Post, about the paper’s latest sweeping cuts. Evan also interviewed journalist Georgia Fort, who discussed the importance of a free press and her recent arrest following her coverage of a protest inside a Minnesota church.
This was the fourth stop of our nationwide tour that will eventually take us to all 50 states for journalism events. Next events are New Orleans, March 12–15, and Durham in late March.

Last week, we held “The Atlantic Across America: New Mexico” at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture in Santa Fe—the third stop on our nationwide tour. The packed event opened with a tour of the museum’s “Makowa: The Worlds Above Us” exhibit, before staff writers Ross Andersen and Caity Weaver sat down with planetary scientist Nina Lanza to discuss our evolving relationship with the cosmos and the search for life beyond our world.
Why did we choose to hold an event on the cosmos in the state? The Santa Fe New Mexican’s Pasatiempo put this question to Ross, who told the magazine in an interview: “Since time immemorial, the people who’ve lived on those lands have had this extraordinary and continuous relationship to the sky. You see that in the rock art. You can feel it out there. It offers a very different mode of looking at the sky and has forever been an intellectual project that’s really thrilling.”

The sold out event featured interviews with editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg, "On Point" host Meghna Chakrabarti, and Congressman Jake Auchincloss. In 1857, The Atlantic’s founders wrote that their magazine would make a sincere and honest effort to represent and champion what they called “the American idea.”
Today we’re announcing The Atlantic Across America – a national event series that will take us to all 50 states over the next three years. The idea is to connect our journalists and journalism to communities all over the country for events discussing the range of issues that we cover. Many events will be in partnership with local and nonprofit newsrooms, and marry local and national issues.
The first event is tonight in Boston, the birthplace of our magazine, in partnership with WBUR Boston – and you can watch the live stream at the link in bio beginning at 6:30pm.
Planning is underway for our next events in Phoenix, Sante Fe, Miami, Durham, New Orleans, Omaha, and Salt Lake City. Check out the tour page where you can sign up for ticket details and upcoming events.
