We have picked up some new followers so we would like to introduce ourselves 👋🏼
The Atlantic Dash is an annual ocean rowing event departing from Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote and finishing in Jolly Harbour, Antigua.
Teams will row 3,200 miles across the Atlantic Ocean — no hidden motor, no secret sail. Just human power. It’s a true test of stamina, grit and endurance, and a powerful discovery of what’s possible when you’re pushed beyond your comfort zone.
The Atlantic Dash isn’t a race. It’s an ethos. Our lives are measured by two dates but they are defined by the dash between them.
Two dates. One dash.
Make it count. ✨

WHO IS MORE MAD?
Billy and Alex, cofounders of the Atlantic Dash, have big personal plans this year.
Alex is walking 3,00 miles through the middle of America along the Continental Divide Trail — journey of around 5 months!
Billy is rowing 5,000 miles across the Indian Ocean from Australia to Africa — potentially more than 100 days at sea!
And we’ll still be there for all our future crews planning their Atlantic Dash! 🤙🏼

“I had no idea what to expect when Jonny set off to Lanzarote to meet Billy, Alex & Chris, the other teams and individuals that we’d been introduced to through the initial webinars.
It was really reassuring how quickly relationships were formed and how helpful everyone was, working together to get their boats ready.
The daily safety updates were something that provided a welcome connection to what was going on on the water and provided reassurance and comfort.
The sense of community in Antigua was incredible. I loved meeting family and friends on the same journey as mine, as we waited for our loved ones to return. Sharing reunions on the dock was a real privilege, as it was to get to know some incredible people.
Just overall a really well planned and supported event, a life changing opportunity and inspirational community!”

Rowing across the Atlantic. Is it dangerous?

Yes.
Longer answer?
Yes — but it’s far safer than most people think.

Well, as with every challenge, the real adventure starts when things go wrong! 🙃
Billy and the crew were only 20 miles away from the intended port of Portsmouth when they lost steering. A safety call was made and they were towed into Weymouth.
The English Channel in April is not for the faint-hearted! The missing 20 miles will be completed at a later date.
Yesterday the cycle leg began and Alex went down to Portsmouth historic dockyard to support the crew for the launch. She absolutely did not laugh when Billy and Gary nearly fell off as they pulled away for the first time 🤐
They are now on the road for the next couple of weeks as they head up to Scrabster in Scotland. Hopefully it’s a smooth ride from here 🤞🏼
✅ Stage 1: row from Les Minquiers to Jersey
✅ Stage 2: walk across Jersey
✅ Stage 3: row from Jersey to Portsmouth
👉🏼 Stage 4 (NOW): cycle on a tandem rickshaw from Portsmouth to Scrabster (near John O’Groats)
👉🏼 Stage 5: row from Scrabster to Out Stack.
Good luck to Billy, Gary Patrick and Kev for the rest of the journey. Follow the journey @southnorthadventures for updates

WHAT’S BILLY UP TO NOW?
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Atlantic Dash Co-founder Billy.
He’s currently part of a crew of 4 taking on a True South to North adventure of the British Isles 🇬🇧
The brainchild of psychologist Dr. Kev, the journey will begin in Les Minquiers (the most southern point) and end in Out Stack (the most northern point).
✅ Stage 1: row from Les Minquiers to Jersey
✅ Stage 2: walk across Jersey
👉🏼 Stage 3 (NOW): row from Jersey to Portsmouth
👉🏼 Stage 4: cycle on a tandem rickshaw from Portsmouth to Scrabster (near John O’Groats)
👉🏼 Stage 5: row from Scrabster to Out Stack.
For the eagle eyed who recognise the boat, it belongs to Gary who rowed solo in the Atlantic Dash in 2025, he’s also on the team 🤙🏼
Billy was initially brought on board as ocean rowing consultant… now he’s doing the whole challenge!
His credentials
Ocean rowing: ✅ expert
Cycling: ❌ well, we’re about to find out!

ATLANTIC DASH 2026 — THAT’S A WRAP
There are so many people we want to thank, and the list is far too long to name without missing someone. So if you’ve been part of the Dash in any way — partner, volunteer, supporter, or behind-the-scenes legend…
THANK YOU. You know who you are. 🙌🏼
To our 2026 crews: thank you for trusting us with your adventure. You’ve been an incredible group of humans, and it’s been a privilege to watch your journeys unfold.
And to everyone watching from the sidelines; liking, commenting and sharing our posts (and obsessively refreshing the tracker)… we’ve had over 5.5 MILLION interactions in the last 90 days 🤯
What. A. Year!
Now we’re signing off for a week (or 2). Our screen time is actually offensive, so we’re going to go outside to touch some grass and look at some trees 🌳
But we’ll be back soon with more updates, news of 2027 crews, and plenty more ocean rowing chat.
Remember: your life is made of two dates and one dash. Make it count.
✌🏼❤️
