It’s not often that I am speechless. I really don’t have the words to capture these moments or even this very day today. The ability to stand with a Centenarian, my friend and my dear fraternity brother, on the stage to honor the work that he has done not only within Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, inclusive of State Director, Regional Vice President, and senior advisor to 11 General Presidents, but in the world from World War II Navy Veteran, to marching for our freedoms alongside Brother Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and other luminaries who helped pave the way for our people, is nothing short of mind blowing 🤯. This giant of a brother gives a minimum of four hours every single month to me to learn how to be an even better Alpha man. This brother will forget more about Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated than I could ever learn. Thank you for being who you are and for not playing Alpha, but for being the epitome of what it truly means to be an Alpha man, leader, brother, and friend! Today you get to celebrate walking this earth for 100 years! Thank you for being who you are and I salute 🫡 you today my brother! To Mrs. Diane Willis, thank you for allowing me in your home and for taking care of our brother the way you do. What a night! ✨ On May 2, 2026, the Atlanta Alphas celebrated an unforgettable evening of excellence at the 2026 Sphinx Gala while commemorating the 106th anniversary of the founding of the Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Throughout the evening, we: 🎓 Honored the graduating seniors of our Project EXC2EL mentoring program 🏆 Awarded scholarships to 11 deserving students ⭐ Presented Bro. Chris Womack with the Maynard Holbrook Jackson Leadership Award 🤝 Presented Bro. Martin Luther King III with the Ozell Sutton Humanitarian Award 💯 Celebrated the one and only Bro. Robert A. “Bob” Willis ahead of his 100th birthday 👑 Named Bro. Dr. Derek Smith our Brother of the Year And to top it all off, Rashan Ali kept the energy high all night long as an incredible MC. The evening was made even more historic with the presence of the Fraternity’s General President, Executive Director, Regional Vice Presidents, a Past General President, and numerous national, regional, and district leaders. Today, as I start a new year around the sun, I want to say thank you to God, my family, my friends, my fraternity, and my mentees. I’m the baby of three and Uncle B to three and the epitome of a mama’s boy!! Every Sunday that I’m home, I get to have family dinner and never cook the food! My big brother and sister stay on case, but hey, what can I say? I’m the baby! This time this year, the @atlantaalphas incontestably elected me as Vice President and have incontestably nominated me again to serve as Vice President for the 2026-2027 fraternal year. I say thank you for allowing me to serve, support, and lead in quite literally the second-largest and most influential chapter of ΑΦΑ in the world! Thank you to my mentees @distinguishedgentlemensclub since becoming a mentor in 2018. The young men who have matriculated through the school and program taught me what it truly means to be an example and to show up! By the way, if you don’t have tough skin, don’t mentor high schoolers because the level of roast and nick names you will endure are endless 🙄🤣 Since graduating from @officialstillman , I’ve gone back for graduation every year because I promised myself, my institution, and my college chapter @weus1906 that I will be a dues-paying active alumnus who does the work while supporting and celebrating excellence!
