WE WON THE AMVCA AWARD!
Multichoice Talent Factory West Africa won the award for Best Multichoice Talent Factory film for the very first time since the inclusion of this category in the AMVCA Award.
This category is usually a very strong contest between the three different academies - Western, Eastern and Southern.
I remember when we had our first pre-production meeting for our feature films Leaked and Revist, I told them that we had only one mandate which was to bring the AMVCA award home to West Africa.
And that was the mindset from the beginning.
When we decided to do a high school film, we knew we had taken on an audacious task. We also knew we needed to "come correct". Everything from the casting to the wardrobe, from production values to the stories had to be spot on.
The students had 7 days for production and Toyosi as the Producer took most of the heat from me.
With almost 10 years experience in content acquisition watching thousands and thousands of hours of different genre and looking at data to see what works, I was clear on what I wanted to see.
@by.oluwatoyosi as the producer was stretched. I remember how many times I "made" her cry because of all the changes and requirements I kept insisting on.
Sometimes I will allow her cry, and then hug her and remind her that we were not making a student movie.
We were making an award winning movie and needed to stretch ourselves.
Today her name is on the award as the Producer.
I'm super proud of every single one of them. They really stretched themselves and it worked.
From last minute cancelation by some lead cast to third parties not coming through.
Our Alumni are now AMVCA award winning film makers. Come and hire them now before they increase their price 😀
Our movies are showing on Africa Magic Showcase and Showmax.
The students "ate" the films and left no crumbs...Okay maybe some crumbs but the fact is, they "ate"!

It's a Thursday throwback!
This is a photo dump from the African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative (AWEC) Conference in Nairobi.
It's actually Part 1 so be ready😀

AWEC is a program operated through the Center for Global Enterprise in America.
This time last week we were getting ready to connect, learn, engage and be built.
I joined AWEC in 2018.
My journey started when my husband forwarded a link to me and said...
"This looks like something you will like. You should apply".
He was correct.
I applied because I liked what I saw.
You needed to have three things to qualify.
📍A business or a business idea that is viable and impactful.
📍You had to be ready for a one year intensive online program that must be completed.
📍You had to convince the panel that you should be selected among the many women that would apply.
Well, 2300 women applied from 52 African countries that year and I was selected as one of the 200 women to join the very first Cohort of the program as Cohort 1.
Fast forward to 5 years later...
📍We've had conferences in Rwanda, Tanzania, Egypt and now Kenya.
📍I've served on the Alumni Board of AWEC as the only Nigerian representing West Africa.
📍I've been profiled on their page as an expert on Personal and Business branding.
📍I've facilitated a Masterclass with another Sister from Tanzania.
📍But I believe the most important of all of these is that I've made connections with hundreds of amazing women.
Today the program is 1000 women stronger with five Cohorts.
I have sisters from all over the world.
In this one post we have women represented from Rwanda, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
📍Your work is important.
📍People are watching.
📍 You have what it takes.
📍Apply for that thing today.
📍Make that phone call.
📍Send that email.
This is your time.
The AMVCA is all it says it is and more.
A celebration of talents and creativity in the creative industry.
