I am in LOVE with the most recent batch of antler tips I got to make pouch buttons. Normally a handful of them will be too short or too long and I'll need to set them aside for other projects, but with these, every single one is perfect.
I drill the holes, then smooth the sharp edges as well as dremel a channel between the holes to minimize the wear and tear on the thread. At that point, they are ostensibly finished--but knowing me, I just gotta do a little extra. ✨️ So a handful of these buttons get extra carvings: spirals, dot patterns, geometric shapes, etc. Although I'm kinda tempted to offer them as add-ons, usually I just sneak them onto pouches at no extra cost. So if you see a pouch in the shop that has one, know that it's extra special!
The shop is closed until November, but I'm working on the last few orders and will also be grabbing a couple things from the quote form. In the meantime, check out some of the new pouch designs I've been working on! The art is all original, but the snail cat is based on a little bit of medieval manuscript marginalia, the serpent is based on a couple of Urnes-era brooches, and the knot is based on a piece of Borre-era jewelry. The dragon is just a lil guy.
