Design isn't only visual.
The most timeless interiors speak to all five senses.
In my course with @createacademyofficial I explore how these senses shape a home's atmosphere, and how each layer contributes to the way a space makes us feel.
Enrol on my course via the link in my bio to learn how to create interiors with depth, character and lasting beauty.

Sergei Vinogradov, Summer at the Dacha, 1924.
A room filled with light, softness and the quiet pleasures of summer. What makes this painting so irresistible is its sense of ease: lace curtains, flowers, rugs, cushions and sunlight all creating an interior that feels deeply lived in rather than arranged for show.
Vinogradov understood how an ordinary domestic scene could become something poetic. It is not simply a picture of a room, but of atmosphere, comfort and summer itself.
Sergei Vinogradov (1869–1938) was a Russian painter admired for his luminous interiors, landscapes and scenes of everyday life. Associated with Russian Impressionism, he had a wonderful gift for capturing light, air and the charm of domestic interiors.

Every large house deserves a passageway as elegant and timeless as this one! A space like this doesn’t just connect rooms - it creates a journey through beauty and history, reminding us that even the most practical parts of a home can become works of art.

Often, I line the backs of bookcases with fabric or wallpaper in a contrasting tone. It adds depth, warmth and a quiet vibrancy that brings the architecture of the shelving to life.
Here, in a grand library we designed, black lacquered joinery is detailed with brass edging and leather trim. The combination of gloss, metal and hide creates a richness that feels both tailored and timeless - strong yet inviting.

I N S I D E T H E A T E L I E R • Have you ever asked yourself “What would Alidad do?” when looking at natural stone?
In this episode of “Styling Interiors”, see how Alidad would style certain slabs of Marble, Quartzite and Onyx in an interior space.
I very rarely share pieces like this here, but this essay stayed with me. It speaks to the quiet weight many in the Iranian diaspora carry.
Thank you @cycle.breakers.lab for articulating it.

Room of Hereditary Grand Duchess Mathilde of Hesse, Residenzschloss, Darmstadt, 1833–34.
Watercolour by Johann Heinrich Schilbach, master of the Biedermeier interior. Working for the Hessian court, Schilbach recorded palace rooms with extraordinary precision-quiet, refined spaces that now survive largely through his brush, offering a rare window into early-19th-century domestic life.
