Our coaches have trained professional athletes in the NFL, CFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, NHL, NWSL, and PGA. These same coaches train high school athletes, and fitness enthusiasts just looking to live their best life.
The Athletic Lab model treats everyone as a high performing human, whether that performance is on the world stage, on a high school field, at a weekend 5k for charity or a morning walk through the neighborhood.
Youâd think the pros get the most complex, extensive, fancy training. But in reality the training starts out pretty much the same for everyoneâs goals. We then use the principles scaling exercises and training loads to meet the individual needs of our members.

A lot of athletes get stuck in the same cycle.
Train â pain â rest â feel better â repeat.
The problem is rest may calm symptoms down, but it doesnât prepare your body for the demands of sport or activity again.
Real progress happens when you gradually bridge the gap back to activity â building capacity without constantly irritating the tissue.

Quad strength is one of the most important pieces of ACL rehab.
Restoring isolated quad strength helps build the foundation for higher level movement and improves an athleteâs ability to tolerate load again.
The problem is many athletes stop rehab once they reach basic strength benchmarks or around 90% symmetry.
But sport requires much more than isolated strength alone (sprinting, decel, cutting, reacting to chaos, etc.).
Strength has to be progressively transferred into movement and ultimately into the true demands of sport.
Thatâs the gap many athletes never fully address before returning to sport.

MIKE YOUNG IN TURKEY đčđ· @mikeyoungphd
đIn collaboration with Quadro Athletıc and Deuce Performance Laboratory the CHPC Athletic Performance Coaching Education
was delivered under the leadership of Dr. Mike Young.
đInternational knowledge and experience
brought to the field through a science-based system.
đFrom movement to strength, speed to performance,
the entire process is approached holistically.
Always for the better.
Most coaches stop sets based on how athletes look, rather than how they are actually moving. VBT allows you to set a simple cutoff by monitoring bar speed. A bar speed drop of more than 20% from the first rep is an indicator that no matter how the athlete looks or what percentage of 1RM they are supposed to be moving, that they are fatigued beyond the necessary output they need to reach the target stimulus. We shut down the set so that we donât keep the athlete accumulating a bunch of junk reps.

Top 5 Reasons to use VBT with your athletes: Reason #3: Objective load & zone prescription. Research over the years has mapped clear velocity zones for different strength qualities. Accelerative strength, strength speed, speed strength, and starting strength all live in different velocity zones. While percentage based training can target these qualities by prescribing an âidealâ load that can allow for different velocities, verifying the quality of the reps becomes a coaches visual interpretation and is subjective. Using VBT gives a clear picture of the athletes bar speed and verifies the quality of the bar speed and whether or not the target is hit on every rep. ACL rehab is a process, and this reel highlights how a collaborative approach can benefit athletes.
Great work was done early on to build a strong foundation â appreciate the work by @danmenday
From there, we focused on progressing back to the demands of sport.
Most importantly, credit to the athlete for the consistency and effort it takes to reach this point! @mackennaaa.iii
This is how I envision helping others at All Around Athlete! Always open to collaborating with other clinicians to help support athletes through the full return-to-sport process!
