This April, we are incredibly proud to introduce our next Human Book: @athingalive 🎙️ 🍟 Friday Fries Night: Human Library 📅 Friday, 24 April 2026 ⏰ 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM 📍 284 River Valley Road, Singapore 🔗 Join us and hear Bevin in person! Bevin (she/her) is a performance maker and butoh dancer. Her works are shaped by discovery through collaborative practices and she seeks to create strange and beautiful moments. She took many years to find her creative voice, and was fortunate to have received a rich arts education which gave her many paths into art making. She was a theatre student at SOTA and received the National Arts Council’s arts management scholarship to pursue a History of Art degree at UCL (London). She believes strongly that an artistic practice can be healing and transformative. Be it through her performances or her regular butoh classes, or professional work in administration/policy/fundraising or through the Occupational Therapy service she co-founded with her sister (@sproutkids.ot ), she tries to create spaces for others to tap into their own intuition and knowing. #HumanLibrary #FridayFriesNight #RiverValleyIrregulars #NonLinearCareer #StoriesWorthTelling

Last week's pilot Sprout Kids Clay Club workshop was something we'll remember for a long time. 🌱 We had such a lovely and relaxing time together — and more than anything, it reminded us *why* we created this space. It was our hope to create a safe space where neurodivergent individuals and their caregivers could slow down, explore, and create with clay without judgment, pressure, or expectation. Seeing all that come to life in the Polkaros studio was truly special. To everyone who came along — THANK YOU. You brought so much warmth and creativity to the space. You made this workshop everything we hoped it would be and more. 🙏 We're already buzzing to host our next session, so stay tuned — you won't want to miss it! ✨ 📹 credits: Elizabeth Nair Space: @polkaros studio Volunteers 💗: Aaron, Elizabeth, Isabella

“THIS IS NOT A DANCE CLASS” W’ BEVIN @ *SCAPE 03 APRIL, 2026 • FRIDAY 17 APRIL, 2026 • FRIDAY 3 HOURS, 7-10PM *SCAPE #03-09 2 Orchard Link, Singapore 237978 In this two-part introductory butoh class, Bevin will first share a bit of history behind Butoh and how it was influenced by various avant-garde movements like the Dadaist, Fluxus, Surrealism, Expressionism, etc etc. Then, she will lead the group through some simple exercises with the intention of loosening and freeing the body. Drawing inspiration from the rebellious and revolutionary roots of Butoh, she hopes to provide an antidote to the despair and powerlessness that many of us feel in the face of distant wars and the seemingly endless stream of bad news. Participants are encouraged to bring a massage ball (or 2 tennis balls in a sock) and/or a foam roller. Sliding scale participation is offered for this event, no explanations required. Payment can be made anonymously via cash or paylah to the facilitator. Suggested contribution: $25 per session or $40 for both. Please express your interest to our facilitator via telegram @bevnjw . @athingalive

I’d love to develop a work by creating in this way.. thank you to this precious group of open, committed, generous, playful people who let me lead this session, I learned a lot 🙇🏻‍♀️✨ Big thank you to @singaporebutohcollective And the amazing space at @scapesg

‘If you think this is ok, it is okay too, but if you want to be better, it is limitless. If you think you cannot get the stars — yes we know we cannot — but if you think you can, the body is beautiful.’ @emiko.agatsuma I’ve been sick on and off since returning and always the hum of uncertainty about what I’d do next, where to find work etc. but dancing gives me this tremendous peace and hope around being alive. It is a joy and a comfort to dance with people who are reaching for stars. So grateful and amazed by the way @111xue111 has led the @singaporebutohcollective to present Cosmic Garden, a public butoh performance in Singapore. It is the result of her sustained dedication to bringing butoh to Singapore over the last few years, not an easy thing to do. Thank you to all the dancers, the collective members, the crew, the people at SCAPE who believe in the collective, the audience… These are some pictures showing just a sliver of the process before we became the white bodies that floated into SCAPE. I think they’re taken by Mao and Jun.

Winter at @doubleedgetheatre I almost gave up making theatre several times because I couldn’t find a way in to the sort of work I imagined was possible. But every time I wasn’t sure I should continue seeking, someone or something appears to carry me forward. The five days training at DE was like finding ‘IT’, here a group of artists train and live together with such integrity and spirit, revitalising every place and thing that they touch. It’s hard to articulate the immense work they do, in working and living this way, creatively surmounting the v real operational and financial challenges. Winters in the early years must have been harsh, the barns were designed for cows not actors, but 40 years on its hard to tell; we were warm, fed, nourished so richly. I have so much in my artistic reserves now and will keep going, knowing that my teachers are with me 💓 thank you @milenadabova for that image. Also grateful to @urionacarlos for the special encouragement and partial scholarship🙇‍♀️ DE is putting up two shows in Feb (Rainbow Exodus), then July to Aug (Cara Luna Azul) — friends in the US, go see it! There will also be a 2026 Summer intensive in June and a Fall intensive in Oct. Witness for yourself 🌳 1- Lea who is working in the production team and comes from Malaysia!! 2- The Archive Room 3- DE’s statement boldly greeting you: ART+LIVING CULTURE+ART JUSTICE = DOUBLE EDGE THEATRE 4- Donut shop that’s not related to anything here

Butoh Don’t Cry #12 by @singaporebutohcollective at @enclavebar.sg Wanted to pull out of performing because I didn’t feel ready at all and SOS-ed @plzliz who assured me that the audience is super generous and it is a safe place to test out performance ideas — it was that and much more.. when I was working at the NAC I ended up thinking a lot about arts spaces and infrastructure— the underlying belief was that public spaces should be managed responsibly, so the state should portion out spaces and ensure effective allocation/proper use— it was interesting for me to think about how these guidelines are formed and how to make them sound reasonable. Who gets to perform on the street vs in the theatre vs in a concert hall vs in the outdoor stage, who decides and on what basis, and when does a work become ready, for what kind of audience, etc. Butoh Don’t Cry was wonderful because it just existed in all its weirdness, like that, no explanations needed. What a special special place enclave bar is, and I hope it will take some other form.. they are closing this saturday so you have a few more days to see for yourself. I like the ginseng cocktail that is Kimi’s (@burnthatcvnt ) own invention. Photos by @carocyh and Sim Zhiyu
