One of the top things on my bucket list was to take @jed.sodapop to Ireland and actually do a #morrigan shoot. This was the first time we met, very randomly, and it has led to not only what I consider one of my most important friendships, but a few of my closest friendships.

RE: Energy Company excessive profits
Oil prices are rising due to the US attacks on Iran. Gas prices are rising up. Canadian oil and gas, although the majority is produced domestically is subject to the global price increases. Canadian and American energy companies operating locally are going to be making money hand over fist due to higher prices, while their production costs have remained the same.
For Canadians this means a massive affordability crisis. Meanwhile companies operating in Alberta and other parts of the country are about to see incredible windfalls on top of their already record profits.
The Federal government removed the gas tax, and already gas prices have increased by double that amount, meaning all we have achieved is to rob the Federal government of revenue. The industrial carbon tax isn't to blame. The consumer carbon tax wasn't to blame. It's not federal taxes or provincial taxes. So I don't want to hear some party politics BS about how the carbon tax is to blame for the US strikes on Iran or some nonsense, I'm too educated to fall for that.
What I would love to see is some real action taken. Other countries have started putting in gas price caps or windfall taxes on the excessive profits of energy companies. How can a companies be allowed to sit on $100 Billion in PROFITS while Canadians are unable to afford to drive to work. Windfall taxes could be split between general government revenue and citizen reimbursement cheques. Think how good it would look for re-election campaigns if you got every Canadian a $400 cheque (very loose math based on a randomly chosen tax rate). You could even allow energy companies to avoid the windfall tax if they reduced or kept price increases below a certain threshold. There are so many real options to be taken. As it stands, the oil and gas companies are going to funnel these profits to foreign shareholders while Canadians have to suffer.
