After nearly 3 years of working on this project, going through bare ups and downs, getting ill, life lifing, losing confidence, finding it again, everythinggggā¦ we finally made it here.
Iām so proud to announce my exhibition: You Arenāt Who They Thought You Were.
This whole body of work is basically about celebrating Black people across the diaspora that move outside of expectation. People that challenge what they were told to be, who they were supposed to become, or how they were supposed to exist. Itās about identity, individuality, culture, performance, freedomā¦ all of that.
I had so many inspirations around me while making this project too. Through my own life, people close to me, strangers, memories, conversations, music, fashion, literally everything. So many influences shaped this work into what it is today.
Honestly this project carries so much of me in it and I genuinely canāt wait for everyone to finally see it in person.
