For many millennia, astrology was used to both premonitorily and celebratorily study the effects of the movement of the stars and planets on the collective. Whether to find the most adequate weeks to reclaim the conquested land or to gauge the best time for the upcoming harvest of a particular plant*, it took thousands of years before astrology was personalized and reduced to studying the future whims of an individual’s fate. As the world intifada is here, it is time to urgently and collectively address, redress and make use of the political power of cosmic alignment as evinced by the study and practice of astrology!

In this post, I delve into the astrology of mourning as evinced within the trans-millennial Chaldean framework of my ancestors.
The Moon is our emotional regulator and death doula. She reminds us of the wisdom of cycles and the pains of separation. Whenever I gaze her, I remember my late grandmother. She teaches me of proximity and how death does not do us part.
🪐 Saturn rules over the illusion of time, disease and old age. In our mythology, Saturn is the retriever of the Tablet of Destinies that has the power to reverse time. It is the planet of the margins, and death is merely a margin.
Venus has the power to feign death and reappear. Hellenistic astrology has erroneously portrayed Venus as a passive representation of aquatic realms, while, my Goddess, she is a storm of fiery desire. Kleptocratic Hellenistic representations of the wisdom of the cosmos made us forget the power of Venus’ feminine rage against war and her ravenous dedication to cosmic justice. If someone could trick death, it would be her.
Mercury is the psychopomp of the zodiac. They are one of the starkest representations of the interdimensional force of the hermaphrodite – the very essence of alchemy. While modern Pluto is often represented as a resumption of Martian energy, I would argue that Pluto is closest to Mercury than Mars.

Why is January 1st a symbol of ws and disjuncture from the cycles of the earth and the interconnected multiplicity of time?
In this reel, I share with you insights from my indigenous calendar and perennial philosophy of time, while reflecting on the imperial history of the month of “January”.
Throughout this video, I share with you examples from our chronicles that indicate how we had collectively as a people ended up not being able to celebrate some new years due to war, loss and exile.
I use these examples to reflect on our gncdl present and the long, diluvial history of the Earth that spans several billions of years. These lessons further show me how organising greatly revolves around decolوnzing time and retrieving our very powerful synchronicities.

Certain is my heart in knowing that nothing that we have passed through in Lebanon has been harder than what we are living through now. It is true that I haven’t directly experienced all what my ancestors did, yet I can’t see the colonial campaign we are facing in discontinuity to what they have went through before I was born. Seriously, we can end this continuum with a love bigger than the present.
The more I read through 20th century history, the more I find myself in a recursive ring of violence, with the same profiteers and compradors, and perhaps, more people ready to give everything to embody their ancestors’ hope. We do not only inherit the pain, but also the (post-?)traumatic growth, and sadly, so much protracted mourning. I wish to carry my heart in dignity and experience my mourning so no one inherits it on my behalf. Yet, I also wouldn’t put the blame on those dispossessed who believed that they can only survive through auto-denial. These are systemic problems.
So when we mourn today, we can mourn for and with multiple generations. And that is the antidote of defeatism – not the other way around. May our grief become radiant with transformation.

Eazuka Khazrik nurtures a plural, liberatory practice in music, education and transgenerational healing. Working across a multiplicity of spaces and constellations that engage with locally entrenched universalisms, her work is guided by a trans-millennial production of knowledge that refuses to separate people from their knowledge and the land. While probing the unity of science and the multi-dimensionality of experience in an age that institutes separation, over the past 15 years, her indisciplinary practice has been revolving around the collective search and need for polymathy and transformational infrastructure in our shared present and long-term future. She has been initiated into Chaldean Astrology by her grandmother at the age of 10, in year 7300 of their enduring Chaldean calendar and currently speaks 5 languages. She holds a BA in Linguistics and a BA in Theatre from the Lebanese University(LB) and a MS in Art, Culture and Technology from MIT(US) where she was awarded the Ada Lovelace prize.
Khazrik has been teaching in several community spaces, alongside universities, such as HfK Bremen, the FNHW Academy of Art & Design in Basel, Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg, NTNU, among others. She is the founder of the liberatory platforms “ خريطة الظلام Cartography of Darkness”, AATMA✦ عتمة, “Astrorevolt ܟܪܟܐ” and “Reading Computers قراءة الحواسيب”. Having grown up around a quarry contaminated with military waste brought from the UEG into Lebanon, she has been active in struggles for environmental justice since early adolescence.
