Make a wish 🌠✨ @astronycc picked up his Alpha 7 III + 24mm F1.4 G Master and drove 3 hours to see the Geminid meteor shower and get this shot. Worth it 🙌 15sec | ISO 2600 #SonyAlpha
Hello everyone! My name is Samil Cabrera. I’m originally from New York City but currently reside in Florida. As an astrophotographer, I travel the world to capture the beauty of the night sky.
I want to extend my gratitude to @europeanspaceagency for the opportunity to showcase some of my favorite images from my journey.
Below, you’ll find a brief description of each image in this carousel:
1. Lone Driftwood Tree and intense airglow captured in the Florida Keys. Stack of 20x15s exposures using a 20mm f1.8 and the Sony α7III.
2. The Great Orion Nebula 9.5 total integration time using a 275mm telescope and the Sony α7III.
3. Gygnus setting behind an otherworldly landscape in Arizona. Single 2 minutes exposure for the sky and 2 minutes for the foreground using a Sony 24mm f1.4 lens and the Sony α7III.
4. White Pocket, Arizona. While watching the Gemenids meteor shower a nice meteor photobombed the shot. I used a Sony 24mm f1.4 lens and the Sony α7III.
5. The famous “Green Comet” of last year captured using a 275mm telescope and the Sony α7III.
6. The Great American Eclipse of April 8th 2024 from Carbondale, Illinois. A once in a lifetime experience, being able to see the solar flares with the naked eye! This one is a single exposure showing the Baily’s Beads right before the end of totality.
7. Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex and Blue Horsehead nebula. The image combines a total of 8 hours of integration time captured on the Rokinon 135mm f2.0 lens and the Sony α7III.
8. The Northern Cross setting behind La Sal mountain in Moab, Utah. 20x15s exposures on a 20mm f1.8 Sony lens and the Sony α7III.
9. Orion Molecular Cloud Complex imaged from a dark site in Florida. 1 hour of total exposure 120s each using a samyang 50mm f1.4 lens and the Sony α7III.
Aurora Explosion— It’s incredible how dynamic auroras become during substorms. I was lucky enough to capture them during a geomagnetic storm on a trip to Alaska.
Enjoy!

Big Bend, Texas
Last year, @mikeabramyan and I traveled to one of the darkest skies in the US.
Big Bend National Park was a bucket list location for me, and it did not disappoint. Can’t wait to go back soon.

Barnard’s Loop
Using the 50mm f/1.4 lens by @viltrox.usa , I was able to capture one of my most detailed wide-field image of the Orion constellation. For this shot, I gathered a total of 2 hours of RGB data and 1 hour of H-alpha, revealing the massive hydrogen clouds that surround Orion and stretch far beyond what we see with the naked eye.
Enjoy!

Aurora just exploded over Florida moments ago! 🩸
After hours of waiting, the sky finally came alive in deep reds, driven by a historic Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) that pushed conditions into a G4 geomagnetic storm.
Visible to the naked eye and absolutely unreal to witness this far south for the fourth time during this solar maximum cycle.
Enjoy!
