Day 3 of the Mainz Composers’ Portrait 2026. ✨ This morning: Chamber Concert II — Fragments of Eternity at the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz. Together with the wonderful scholarship holders of Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz and the Ast Quartet, we’ll perform P-ILION and Anájikon, the Angel in the Blue Garden, alongside music by Nikos Skalkottas. The concert will be followed by a panel discussion with Gabriel Venzago and others, moderated by Sabine Fallenstein. 🎻 Concert Ast Quartet Demi-finalistes du Concours international de Genève en 2023, les Ast arrivent à Vibre ! en résidence pour un programme en deux actes à la Chapelle des Capucins. « Ast », en allemand, c’est la branche, le chemin qui bifurque. Un nom qui dit tout de l’ambition de cet ensemble : rayonner à travers les pays, les cultures, les répertoires. Au programme, deux œuvres, deux époques, un même élan. Le Quatuor « La Chasse » de Mozart ouvre le bal avec ses fanfares et ses appels de cors, conversation vive et enjouée entre quatre instruments complices. Puis Mendelssohn prend le relais avec son Quatuor op. 44 n° 2, écrit au lendemain de son mariage dans une période d’épanouissement créatif : l’héritage classique y rencontre une impétuosité et une virtuosité toutes romantiques. We are completely heartbroken by the news of Günter Pichler’s passing. He was taken from us far too soon, leaving a void that feels impossible to fill. We will always hold onto the memories of his warmth, his inner strength, and his gentle soul. The 2nd Bad Tölz International Competition- spanning three rounds from the preliminary to the final- were a major challenge, as it had been only a month since our new violist, Semin, had joined us.
