Earring Therapy: A Mother’s Lesson
When we were growing up, our mother had a special kind of magic. She called it “earring therapy.” Whenever life felt heavy—when a day went sideways, when her heart was bruised, or when the world just seemed too big—she would head to a local shop. There, among the handmade stuff, she’d pick out a pair of earrings for herself. Occasionally, she would load one, two, or all three of her daughters in the car with her! When we were old enough to shop on our own, she would encourage us to try a little "earring therapy" ourselves.
It wasn’t about the earrings, though she treasured them. It was about the ritual—the pause, the laughter, the reminder that beauty and joy can be found even in small things. Our mother believed that a small gift could lift a spirit, that creativity could heal, and that spending time treating yourself generously was the best therapy of all.
