Two years ago I joined a group of civilian ‘volunteers’ with a view to support the release of hostages. What started out as a moment to moment effort turned into a mission. Over 750 days and many life lessons later, I am winding down HMFForum’s fundraising efforts. For me, the term success has been redefined. It is entangled with a sadness and disbelief and mostly with the power of hope. The term team effort takes on new meaning. Israeli civil society and the Diaspora Jewish community have forever changed my faith in humanity.
Today marks two years since we lost our Masha Etkind on her father Efim Etkind’s birthday, of all days. He, our Fima, was by far her greatest influence and guiding star.
My mother was a force of nature. Her light, energy and love are gravely missed. It is a much different world without them💔
