Life Change Announcement: Last November, Tegan and I decided to separate. I know the first instinct is to say “I’m sorry to hear that”, which is very appreciated as it is always challenging to untangle a long term relationship. With that, both Tegan and I know that this was the best decision we could’ve made. Being together for so long, it can be very hard and sometimes scary to choose ourselves when we need to, in spite of the challenges it may bring. So I guess with the “I’m sorry” I always feel like “congratulations” is just as appropriate. In other news, here is a picture of me sitting on an iced chair. So I guess when one door closes, another chair freezes.

Let’s talk about collaboration. Today was the last day of my first full year at SCAD, from starting Fall 2024. Whenever someone asks me what’s it like working at SCAD I respond “it’s a dream job” without even thinking twice. The longer I work there, the more accurate the answer becomes! And yes, doing what I love, with talented students, at an extremely successful school, which is 7 minute scooter ride away, checks all the “dream job” boxes. BUT, none of these compares to working with amazing collaborators, and luckily, I have found quite a few! Thank you @lizgrayvoice and @dremmyb for trusting me with your voice students, choirs, ensembles, and for letting me be a part of this amazing, first of many, Night of Vocals performance that was freaking incredible. Thank you @mikeevariste for trusting me with the @scad_beesharps and letting me bring my weird obsession with Christmas music to life. Thank you @kjstites for trusting me with your orchestrations and playing with you in Shakespeare in Love. And thank you @profevariste and @leslieodomjr for inviting me to one of the most moving projects I ever been apart of. The cabaret brought out an extremely vulnerable side of the students, and your ability to create a safe space for it, and trusting in me to do the same meant a lot. And thank you @mtymchyshyn and @aerabb for taking all our wildest suggestions and passions, and allow them to come to fruition! I couldn’t ask for better teams to work with, better colleagues to collaborate with, and better leadership to work under. And to say “I’m headed to my office” and show up at a place like this is absolutely a dream come true. Now excuse me while I take a 48 hour nap to recover ❤️

I joined a stand up comedy class and last night was my showcase. I got to talk about my failed attempt at speaking English for 3 minutes. It was a blast! Thank you @frontporchimprov for creating this awesome community for us to keep pushing ourselves and try new things! ❤️❤️❤️

Beyond excited to open this monstrous show (pun intended of course) - Little Shop of Horror! Every show I work on is special, but this one is extra special for so many reason, the main one being the students I got to work with. From the principles, to the ensemble, to the 3 urchins who ate all these harmonies for breakfast (another pun fully intended), to my two incredible assistants, and the 4 students playing at this 10 piece orchestra. Their growth, talent, wit, ambition, initiative, and kind heart has been a true inspiration. And that’s like my full time job now - CRAZY! I am so proud of my little shop family, and I hope everyone will get to see and support these amazing humans ❤️❤️❤️. I’m so happy to finally being able to make this announcement! A year ago Kim Steiner brought me in to assist him in SCAD with the @scad_beesharps . I’ve been loving every second of it and got to do some incredible things. A week ago I accepted a full time, Music Associate position with SCAD, and I’m starting next Monday! This type of position has been my dream job ever since I can remember. The students are incredibly talented, the team I work with is amazing, the projects are top quality, it’s in my favorite city, and we get to make a positive impact on the community! I’m counting the seconds till Monday comes and I can’t wait to see just how the team and I can grow this amazing program.

It’s “bring the CEO to work day” ❤️ Three years ago today was our very first farmers market. So much has happened and I’m so proud of what this micro business has become. 2024 is going to be awesome! Let’s gooooooo
