🏔️ Did you know the Aspen Ideas campus is a 40-acre living work of art? This week’s Friday Festival Fact features art on campus.
Designed by Herbert Bayer, the Aspen Meadows campus was envisioned as a Bauhaus-inspired “total work of art,” where architecture, sculpture, and landscape come together to unify nature and design. The Big Dipper, Anaconda, and the Marble Garden are just three of the 26 art sites across campus.
✨ Marble Garden: Created in 1955 using reclaimed Colorado marble, this installation explores light, shadow, and the balance between natural and geometric form.
✨ Anaconda: A monumental seven-piece geometric sculpture made of Carrara marble and created by artist Herbert Bayer. The Aspen Institute acquired the sculpture from the Denver Art Museum in 2017.
✨ The Big Dipper: A constellation-inspired sculpture by Mathias Goeritz, where star-shaped pillars align to mirror the Big Dipper and point toward the North Star.
🎨🖼️ Add the walking art tour to your festival plans and experience Aspen from a new perspective.
