The idea that you should be “back to normal” a few weeks after a C-section is one of the biggest myths postpartum moms are handed.
Six weeks tells us your incision closed.
It doesn’t reflect what’s happening underneath the skin — or across your whole body.
Scar tissue continues to adapt.
Your core and pelvic floor are still re-learning coordination.
Hormones and the nervous system are still shifting.
For many moms, 12–24 months is a far more realistic and compassionate healing timeline.
And that matters — because expectations shape how we treat our bodies.
Your body is still changing — and what you do during these phases matters.
We don’t need more bounce-back pressure.
We need better timelines, better education, and more honesty about recovery.

You know what makes me mad? 😡
❌When moms think/are told that “if you don’t hurt anymore, you’re healed”. ❌
You may be healed, but...
YOU’RE NOT FULLY RECOVERED.
Just because you don’t feel pain, it doesn’t mean
👉 your C-section shelf is fully resolved
👉 your core strength is full
👉 you can go back fitness with no risk of injury
As a matter of fact, these three reasons above are the top reasons why moms seek my help months/years after C-section. 😳
It’s because they thought no pain = full recovery.
And it DOESN’T.
So if you don’t want to become a “statistic”, please start with scar massage.
Do it as soon as your doctor discharges you, so that you have full C-section shelf resolution, full core strength, and full ability to return to the activities and sports you love.

🔥 Comment “7777” for your FREE C-section Exercise mini-training
Strength training after #cesarean is an excellent way to retrain your #postpartumcore 🔥
If you already love lifting weights, here are simple tips to guide you for a better #csectionrecovery and doing 1-armed Bench Rows in no time:
✅ Start with solid ABC’s (Alignment/Breathing/Core Control). While it’s never too late to learn these, immediately after surgery is best.
✅ Begin with simple core exercises at home like the Bird dog, Elevated Planks, Pelvic Tilts.
✅ Ease back to the gym with familiar pulling exercises, starting with weights light enough to allow focus on the ABC’s.
BONUS: Strength training also helps big-time with the #csectionshelf (overhang)!

🔥 inspired by a story shared by a #csectionmom in class the other day!!
“You should’ve seen the amount of care my husband received after his VASECTOMY. I’m sorry… you got two little snips and I got CUT OPEN with my uterus lying on the table next to me…
…. And not only did you get recovery support, you got CHOCOLATES?! 🍫 “
Mamas, what was your post-Cesarean care like?

If you’re 2-6 months post C-section and the shelf isn’t changing…
More time isn’t the answer.
This phase—2 to 6 months postpartum—is when your scar tissue is the most responsive.
After that, change in the tissues gets harder.
Many moms are afraid to touch their scar or think the shelf will improve on its own with time.
…or maybe they know about scar massage but have been focusing on the wrong area.
Waiting won’t fix it.
You need a guided approach to recovery.

If your C-section shelf isn’t changing…
👉 It’s not just about fat
👉 And it’s not about doing more
It’s about how your body healed
and how your core is functioning

“Is it too late for my C-section Shelf?”
In a word, no!
… BUT…
It depends on how long ago your C-section was.

That C-section shelf?
It’s not just “your body now.”
👉 It’s often a sign of how the tissue healed
👉 And how your core is (or isn’t) functioning
The good news?
This is something we can change with the right plan.

🌺 Classes start Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13
❗ There are over 9 causes of the #csectionshelf - depending on when your surgery was - but one thing that will always be helpful?
Core exercise. 🔥
In my world, all my #csectionmamas learn how to do the basic core retraining movements FIRST:
A - Alignment. Spinal alignment at any given moment.
B - Breathing. Belly breathing vs Athletic breathing.
C - Core control. Can you “zip up” and stay zipped up?
THEN, if your ABC’s are dialed in, then ANY exercise can be a great #postpartumcoreexercise 💪
For example:
✔️ In the first #6weekspostpartum Marching is quite tough to do while keeping the ABC’s on. Try it!
✔️ In the rest of that first year, challenge the core to stay still while the limbs are moving, like in the Overhead Pullovers.
✔️ Past the 1 year mark? Master the Push Up! Start on an elevated surface like a Bench so that you can focus on your ABC’s.
The KEY to success?
...make sure your ABC’s are always the priority 🔥
Not sure what exercises you should be doing? Not sure what’s safe?
I’d be honoured to guide you through my self-paced online programs. 🙏

Being a Mother means making tough choices.
I never thought I’d have to choose between having my kids full time, or leaving an unhealthy marriage.
Even though I made the right decision for me, sometimes the grief is overpowering.
To all moms in a tough spot this Mother’s Day, I see you. ❤️🩹
🌺 Classes start Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13
❗ The #csectionshelf is caused by different things depending on how long ago your surgery was.
That means if you want to make a change, you can’t do the same thing the whole time.
For example:
✔️ In the first #6weekspostpartum the C-section shelf/overhang is caused primarily by swelling. So, “pumping” exercises like the Belly Breath with Yoga Block will help.
✔️ In the rest of that first year, the Shelf is primarily caused by tight and stuck scar tissue. So, various scar massages will help, so long as you go deeper and deeper as the months go on.
✔️ Past the 1 year mark? You’re not too late! Tools like a silicone Cup can be very helpful, even decades later!
The KEY to success?
...make sure you follow up with the right exercises to imprint these changes permanently into your body 🔥
Not sure what you should be doing? Not sure what’s safe?
I’d be honoured to guide you through my self-paced online programs. 🙏
