People say crop sensors perform poorly in low light, but I don’t let that happen. All you need is vision and the ability to create the scene with intention.
Even though this scene has light in it, I used only one light source coming from the window, and the key light is a matchstick. This is real low light.
When you know what you want to shoot, everything starts to flow automatically 🎥🎬

Recreated this famous low-light David Fincher × Leonardo DiCaprio test shot
I analyzed the footage and noticed two light sources in the background and a matchstick used as the key light, that’s it
So I tried something similar one light and one matchstick. This is how it turned out on a small crop-sensor camera
I then graded the footage in DaVinci Resolve, pushing it slightly toward the bluish side to better match the mood of the shot 🎬🎥
