The Circus Something performance intensive is for the production of The Longest Day, 2026 hosted at Spire the Church. During this performance intensive, participants will be led by creator, director, and choreographer Ash Rex Something to learn about ensemble work, stage presence, movement quality, emotive range, and the creative collaborative process used to develop Circus Something shows. Intensive attendees will play the role of The Luminaries on TLD and will be assigned various fun, on stage character roles. Participants will not only learn and develop the performative qualities through their Luminary characters, but they will also learn and perform 3 original acts! All performance intensive attendees will then be invited into the Circus Something Artist Collective, should they like.

Last week I celebrated my 40th birthday. I survived another year! This week we embarked on the final month of 2025, with the intention to celebrate SURVIVAL. Between my birthday, the end of the year, & the approaching Longest Night, I reflect back on the reality of this year, that I've been hiding from. I was in a very, very dark place.
Many friends, loved ones, & community did not survive the year. This was a year of death for me. I helped carry the weight of 10 deaths... Deaths of many types: disease, old age, accidents, expected and not. Death comes for us all & this year she reminded me with a heavy hand.
As an artist my work becomes me. I hide in it. I make love to it. I express & feel & release through it. My work is my refuge. The weight of death touching every part of my work sent me to an old, dark, familiar place I hadn't been to in a while. I began to lose my spark, my drive, my joy, my light. I was spending so much time in this darkness, working with energies of sorrow and loss, then coming back to them in my creative works with my company, that things became confusing. The existential dread settles comfortably into the folds of our subconscious as a dense fog settles into the pocked, coastal landscape. I wasn't hiding from anything as I thought, it was consuming me & I was too accustomed to the pain to realize what had happened.
It was my community who helped me realize. When we started working on The Longest Night: SURVIVAL things started to get lighter. Can you imagine? Working on a show about the coming darkness and finding light. That is what Circus Something does for me. That is what this company of performing artists does for me. That's, I think, what we do for each other. In creating this show we have all been working through grief & loss & hope & resilience.
It shows, too.
This show has reminded me why I am here.
This work has reminded me why I am important, why we are all important.
This show has become a vessel to transmute grief & celebrate the complexities of SURVIVAL.

FULLY PRESENT: The use of cell phones or recording devices of any kind of any kind are not permitted during the performance. Violators will be asked to leave without refund.
DRESS TO IMPRESS: Circus Something is Avant-Garde Ritual Circus Theater. Our shows have a strict dress code of black and/or white attire only. Any patron wearing color will be required to don a cultist robe for the duration of their experience, or may be denied entry without refund. Be a part of the light (or hide in the shadows) with us.
BE ON TIME: Latecomers will not be seated once the house doors close. No exceptions. No refunds.
