My first day in the life video! I probably shouldn’t have chosen such an average, boring day. This is what my every day is like, definitely not a day where I did as many activities as I normally do in a month. Did I do it? Did I influence???
Basic premiered last night at SXSW and I don’t even know how to express the joy that is sitting in a theater full of people, listening to them laugh their asses off at a movie you poured your heart in to. And it was made even sweeter by my cousins driving up from Dallas to share in the moment AND my brother getting his first song placement in a movie!
Every single person in this movie CRUSHED. Some of them had already been my besties for years, all of them are now my besties for life! Can’t wait for more people to get to see their magic.
@basicthefilm premieres today at #sxsw so I had to take a minute to write a love letter to the cast and crew of this film! Every minute of making this movie was filled with love and laughter and friendship and experiencing the joy of movie making. From going to drag bars and yoga studios together to late night Waffle House parking lot hangs and game nights where we laughed til we cried, and putting on a live cabaret (still can’t believe we did that), I love these people so much and I can’t wait for the world to see their hearts and artistry in this film. Today’s the day! Will never stop being grateful to my bestie visionary @chelseadevantez that I got to be Basic with you all! 😘🤩😘

I had such a great time at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event. I love getting dressed up to go see my friends dressed up, lol. Every single nominee poured into us with beautiful, inspiring speeches. LaTanya Richardson Jackson basically preached a sermon and I had to pull out my phone and take notes! As always I did not take enough pictures 😫 But I’ll share the ones I did take in another post. I love Black women!

Episode 304 of Shrinking, The Field, is in your Apple TV now! Getting to write this one was such a great experience. @asherbrand directed and became my new favorite person. Everyone in this cast and crew is an absolute dream, it’s unfair how talented these people are. And I got to be there when Harrison Ford and Michael J Fox shot a once in a lifetime scene, featuring a real story of something I did with my dad. He would have really loved bragging about that.
Happy birthday to Gordi! The queen of cozy, the sultan of snuggles, the mayor of our neighborhood. Gordi, you’ve taught me so much about self care, seeing yourself as big and powerful to matter how one inch your legs are, and how you should always assume that every person you meet wants to hug you.
