To the one’s that got away…. How much harder sending & forgetting seems for those characters you connect with. The one’s that get you so excited that you study the scripts for hours & pour your heart out for. And then nothing. You go on wondering for weeks if it’s just taking longer than usual & that you may still be “in the running”. But as time goes on you realise that is unlikely. You wonder what you could have done differently. Who ended up getting the role? There’s a strange sense of sadness over letting go of something you saw as your “perfect fit”. As a parent to such young kids in the acting industry it has been a HUGE mix of emotions. We have told our kids from the start that until they are adults, acting is a hobby no different than other kids sports. It is not your job. That how good you “act” or how many callbacks or bookings you get, in no way determines your worth. As a family we have learned SO MUCH through this experience. To celebrate every win & most importantly celebrate every single opportunity. My kids have been so fortunate to even have the chance to audition for so many amazing projects. But for those that got away… the auditions that we play back over & over again through the years….THOSE are the ones we’ve learned the most from. And I’ve learned right along side my kids. It’s ok to be bummed. It’s ok to say I need a break. It’s ok to not understand why you never got that callback. But you keep pushing cause you love acting so much. You celebrate for your friends when they finally get their moment too. In an industry packed FULL of talented & creative people… you just have to keep seeking out YOUR moment… cause it’s out there… waiting for YOUR audition. With that being said, I’ve always meant to make a mashup of Asher’s most beloved auditions. Those ones he really gave his all on. These span from 6 & a half to just recently turning 9. Even though he never landed these roles, he got to audition in front of some huge casting directors. And the hope that maybe just 1 will remember his audition is enough.
