There’s a version of strength no one trains for. One moment you’re doing a lay up. The next, you’re asking for help to sit up.
Ruptured patellar tendon. Fractured wrist. Surgery. Brace. Splint. Hospital.
You expect debilitating pain. What you don’t expect is vulnerability that strips away ego as you question your body. And in the solitude is when the real work begins. Recovery forces patience whether you’re ready or not. This is just the first week of a few months on the road to recovery.
Strength isn’t just about your body, it’s about family and community. You find out who shows up. I’m so grateful for the ones that did ❤️
The goal isn’t just to get back to my fitness routine. It’s to respect patience, perseverance and yes, a fair fcking dose of pain.
Injury breaks the routine. Not the person. See you on the court.
Today @anuschkasawhney and I spent an extraordinary morning with the most loving middle-aged and senior dogs. Super friendly, great as guard dogs and generally just looking for someone who will love them back. If you’re in Goa and looking to adopt one of these older babies, give me a shout ❤️🙏 🐶 #adoptdontshop
