Production for @dazedmiddleeast 00: Creativity in the Age of Chaos 💛 Surf & Soul - exploring how the surf subculture of Sri Lankan youth has become a quiet rebellion for Sri Lankan’s next generation. 🇱🇰 Having been out of touch with my roots for so long after my parents fled Sri Lanka during the civil war, this story felt imperative in rediscovering the inherent power of the people in my homeland. All we hear about is the political discourse & horror but little do we converse about the present day community & the beautiful relationship they share with the land. When I was on call with my fellow producer @ryanwijayaratne , I asked him why he decided to stay in Sri Lanka with all the opportunity abroad - and he said “if we don’t stay and push for change, who will”.
