As we prepare for the 8th Edition of the Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival, we are celebrating Amazigh culture.
At the heart of our Tamghrabit lies an identity that refuses to be sidelined. This year, under the theme Cinema of Tamazgha, we explore how our visual narrative acts as a bridge between the deep history that anchors us and the future we are building.
Makh?
Because cinema is the ultimate way to pass our language and identity to those who come after us.
History isn’t meant to be spectated.
A huge thank you to the @newyorkforumofamazighfilm for providing the research and foundation that allowed us to build this vision. And to our filmmakers, your lens is our voice. 🗣️🎬

Cinema is a collective act.
For the 8th edition of ASFF, we are proud to host a transformative workshop with the Tizintizwa Collective.
🚨Seats are limited!🚨
Why this workshop is essential for your journey as a filmmaker?
Here, you’ll learn how to create cinema through collective and alternative means that challenge the status quo. You’ll imagine new possibilities for student filmmakers and deepen your knowledge on our rich history of collectivism in Moroccan cinema. And you’ll grasp an extra dimension to Amazigh cinema through unique methods of production, creation, and collaboration.
@tizintizwa is a Moroccan poly-disciplinary art-research collective that acts as a pretext for collective creation and cross-pollination. Led by filmmakers Soumaya Ait Ahmed and Nadir Bouhmouch; the directors of the film “Amussu” produced by the Community of Imider, their practice champions heterogeneity in nature and culture. Their work revolves around collaborations with rural communities, documenting oraliture, and exploring the deep relations between land and people.
Join the workshop on 📅 Saturday, April 11th 🕒 3:00 PM 📍 Events Room, Building 2
⚠️ ACT FAST: Seats are strictly limited, and this is one of our most anticipated sessions. You need to book your spot ASAP before they are all gone!
📲 How to register: Scan the QR code on the 3rd slide of this post or click the direct link in our bio to secure your seat right now.
