What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by recognizing ASD's amazing horticulture teacher!
Anne Nutt was recently awarded a Fund for Teachers (FFT) fellowship for her proposal which ‘demonstrated thorough research, inspired creativity and a determination to enhance her career, classroom and school community.’
This self-designed fellowship will "explore horticultural concepts of sustainability, reciprocity, and permaculture via indigenous, regional, and cutting-edge technologies in the Netherlands and the United States, to effect the positive changes in students' experience as growers and lifelong learners whose means of communication is American Sign Language."
Congratulations, Anne!

Did you know?
Today is American School for the Deaf’s Founders’ Day as well as National ASL Day! As the first permanent school for the Deaf in the Western Hemisphere and birthplace of American Sign Language, ASD has pioneered innovative support for young people with diverse communication needs for 208 years and continues to grow our impact as a global leader in Deaf education.
Please consider joining in the celebrations by sharing about ASD's impact with your network and/or making a gift today in support of our annual fund (link in bio!).
Contributions to the annual fund are lifeblood to our organization’s programming— allowing ASD to say "Yes" to exciting opportunities and ensure that we can continue to offer exceptional programs and services. Together, we make a profound difference in the lives of our students and program participants ensuring they are ALL ways able.
In March, our Middle Schoolers participated in the ROV competition at Waterford High School. Students, Marlo and Angelo tied for 3rd in the Mission Course. Teesa and Zaire placed 1st in the Obstacle Course and also tied for 3rd in the Mission Course. We are so proud of our students! Congratulations!
