While upgrading the art room at Bullarto Primary School 🛠️, our team learned students were fundraising for a gaga pit. A what pit, we asked?
Once we learned it’s a timber hexagon filled with sand for a fast-paced playground game, we knew we could build it – and so we did.
This month, our project manager, Tristan, returned for handover and was invited to install a brass plaque commemorating the partnership that brought the gaga pit to life. We also received a certificate of appreciation from the students – straight to the pool room!
Here’s Tristan, principal Joanne Pegg and some of the students – and of course, the real star of the show, the gaga pit.

On the edge of Victoria’s Wombat State Forest, we helped a small school upgrade its art building.
While on site, students were fundraising for a gaga pit – selling toasties and hot drinks to make it happen. Once we figured out what a gaga pit was, we had a thought… we can build that!

Balancing the scales in construction ⚖️
Over the past week we’ve been marking International Women’s Day at Ascot Group, reflecting on this year’s theme of Balance the Scales and the role balanced teams play in project delivery.
To capture some of those perspectives, we asked people who shape our projects – from our CEO to project team members and clients – what makes a team work well.
Construction remains one of Australia’s most male-dominated industries. At the same time, many of the sectors we build for – aged care, education, retail and government – are powered by diverse workforces and perspectives.
