Layers of blue in the @___omos Guesthouse suites, and a rapidly progressing site.
From our first visit to the property that will soon house the @___omos Guesthouse and Restaurant in Abbeyleix, Ireland, we noticed a subtle blue cast to the natural light that filtered through then-empty windows. What could have been perceived as cool and uninviting went on to inform much of our palette and how to work with, not against that light.

Inspiration through the seasons for Suite 05 at the @___omos Guesthouse, opening this July in Abbeyleix, Ireland. Warm, natural tones that emulate the kind of day we're starting to see a lot more of.
Every suite has its unique identity based on the color of the light it receives throughout the day. Each palette is inspired by both the colors of what once was on site, as well as the nature and craft that have always surrounded it. Implemented in curated textures and materials with objects new and old, custom and found.

The Plié shade is crafted from a delicate sheet of brass, precisely formed into a refined oval. Its surface reflects light into a controlled, warm glow, creating a subtle spatial effect within intimate, sophisticated environments. A contemporary interpretation of the classic lamp archetype, the sculptural shade draws the eye with its elegant silhouette and strong spatial presence.

From the outset, palette, texture, and materiality have served as our compass while designing the interiors for @___omos . A number of threads informed the many palettes woven throughout the 16-bedroom Guesthouse and Restaurant, shaping what feels most authentic for the diverse rooms and atmospheres guests will encounter.
This particular palette features the unique tones and textures from the Guesthouse Suite and Ensuite's No. 3 & 6. The following pictures reflect early days on site, peeling plaster, moss, and nature taking over. The underlying nature, local materials, and history of the site was used to inform each color palette.

From the very beginning, we discovered an immediate alignment with our interior architects, Cassandra of Asca Studio and Rebecca of Relief Gallery, in how they approach craft, materials, storytelling, and shaping human experiences.
Since then, we’ve spent the last three years traveling across Ireland, meeting extraordinary makers, uncovering local histories, and developing a design direction together with the wider team that feels honest, grounded, and deeply heartfelt. It has been a joy watching Rebecca and Cassandra connect with, and discover, the beauty of our home.
Naturally, blending our native Irish design heritage with their own Scandinavian vernacular design background (both studios being based in Denmark) and global perspectives from previous projects has helped evolve and elevate the project as a whole. Ash and oak wood, earthy clays, and native wool textiles form a material palette that feels both of the land, novel, and refined.
The process has been magical from day one, and we’re excited to begin to share the work they’ve poured so much care into.
More soon!
Introducing a project very near and dear to us:
Located in Abbeyleix, Ireland, the Ómós restaurant and guesthouse is a full concept hospitality experience, built from the ground up.
A bit of background…Chef Cúán Greene became acquainted with Asca Studio during his time in Copenhagen after seeing Cassandra’s previous work. We share a similar approach to layering and materiality, grounded in craftsmanship in interior and furniture design, and the storytelling about people and places they convey. Asca was invited to an interior design competition that would set the tone for the project.
We partnered with @rebeccaengelnorberg of @relief.gallery to take on the full scope as Interior Architect partners in the project. Both hailing from interior backgrounds with a strong focus on furniture, our alignments and strengths have made this project a dream to collaborate on together. The process, which has lasted over 3 years, has involved studying the history of Ireland and its design heritage, traveling around the country to experience the landscape, natural materials available, and to meet with makers, researching different typologies of hospitality and of course pulling in learnings from previous work and projects.
Set to open Summer 2026, we are excited to share more of the process in the coming months. Please follow along at @___omos All site photos and documentation by @shantanustarick
