On behalf of The Polyfest Trust, Komiti Whakahaere and the Black Sei family, we extend our heartfelt love, prayers and condolences to Blake’s beautiful wife Leilana, Blake’s mum, siblings, and extended family.
Our precious Blake Silimaka Wong-Ling gained his wings on 13 April 2026 after a short battle with cancer. Blake was a man of faith and lived his life as Psalms 28 quotes, trusting in God and singing His praises.
Blake was the MC of ASB Polyfest’s Leaders Conference since its inception 9 years ago. He has welcomed, joked and inspired over 1,500 ASB Polyfest student leaders who have gone on to pursue education excellence in their chosen fields, or have returned to mentor and assist their schools in their Polyfest preparations. During festival week, you would find him MC'ing on Niue Stage, or behind the scenes checking in on everyone, or stepping in to help without hesitation. Last year, he even extended his MC’ing duties to the Diversity stage.
Students and teachers alike will also recognise him from the Pacific Island Leaders of Tomorrow (PILOT) programme in schools, or his work with the Ministry of Education, Manukau Institute of Technology to name a few, and to his beloved church community.
At this year’s Leaders Conference, Blake spoke about legacy – and what a legacy he leaves behind in all of us. Blakey – we love you, and we have been blessed to have you in our lives and to call you our brother. Moe mai rā. Manuia lou malaga. Rest in peace and love.

Today marks the start of ASB Polyfest’s Te Paparewa Māori (Maori Stage) performances at Manukau’s Due Drop Events Centre.

📌 Notice for everyone coming to Saturday's ASB Polyfest Diversity & Pasifika stages:
1️⃣ Park in designated areas only. If you park in restricted places like on the streets listed, your car will be towed.
2️⃣ Stay hydrated! We've had the best weather and Saturday weather looks like another stunner. There's free water stations around the venue, theres also plenty of stalls selling bottled water and refreshments.
