Still in disbelief that my full-length collection is coming out in 2026 with a dream press. I'm looking forward to working with Noemi on this project that I've mostly kept to myself until now. Congratulations to Felicia Zamora! I'm so honored to be published alongside you. And congrats to the finalists--I can't wait to see your work in the world.

I recently learned the likely reason why someone gathers stones and leaves them beside the railroad crossing. We have a spot on the tracks in town where trains are more likely to tip and spill cargo--one of the most common being loose gravel! Thank you so much to @poetsorg 's American Poets for reprinting this poem from Maybe the Body and to Waxwing for publishing its earlier form!

Thank you to @blackbirdjournal for publishing this sweet little poem. This one's from my new book "Beauty Talk" which comes out with @noemipressbooks in October. Last night, I got to see the cover image for the first time, and it's closely tied to bilo-bilo! Here's to everything yet to come!

@c.e.writespoems and I sat down for this conversation in January when I was still navigating how to talk about my work. I'm so grateful to have this early conversation treated with such care by a poet I admire. Thank you to @poetrynw for giving this interview a home and to C.E. for indulging my love of rabbits, libraries and thorny feelings--all of which make their way into "Maybe the Body."

As someone who loves to see a poet’s mind at work, I’ve learned so much reading @poetry_society ’s “In Their Own Words.” Thank you to Brett Fletcher Lauer and Parker Menzimer at PSA for the opportunity to write my own “In Their Own Words” essay about a favorite poem in “Maybe the Body” which came out with @tin_house in February! This is definitely a poem that was made better by friends and editors. Thank you to Jimin Seo for offering me these alternating long and short lines as a formal solution! And to Alyssa Ogi for encouraging me not to end the poem too soon. If you feel moved by this poem and have the capacity, consider making a donation to The Sameer Project. And swipe to the end for a photo of me behind @lulusgelato 's Jonesville stand (the best purveyor of persimmon gelato in Florida!) which is at Jonesville Persimmons (the source of all the persimmons in this poem).

This has been a hard year to give poetry my full attention, so I know it's extra special when anyone spends time with my poems. Thank you to all the writers and editors who've given Maybe the Body their support. It's been two months since my book launch at the Lynx, and I've treasured celebrating each of these interviews, reviews, round ups and shout outs. Here are just a few that haven't yet made it onto my Instagram!

For National Poetry Month, we wanted to revisit the best debut poetry of the year (so far) and asked @asaldrake to chat about MAYBE THE BODY with @tsahaimakedawrites . You can read their conversation at Debutiful.net. Maybe the Body is available from @tin_house now.

I got a quick glimpse of the latest @georgiareview before leaving home this morning. Thank you to Gerald Maa and the editors for giving these two poems from Maybe the Body a home alongside such incredible poets (Ajanaé Dawkins, Allison Adair, Stephanie Burt, Cintia Santana, and so many others!).

So glad to have spent so much of these past few weeks with incredible poets and their work. Some books I've collected from recent launches and events (I'm still a fan girl at heart): Earnest, Earnest? by @ebpoet , No Rhododendron by @samyakshertok ,The Drag Gospel of Queer Jesus by @thelongleafpinebard , Bloodstream by @skcarey1 , and America, A Love Story by Camile Dungy.

Purple Gallinule, moorhens (chicks!), great blue heron and gators at Sweetwater Wetlands Park. It's nesting season when I am terrified of all the gator sounds.
