📣Open Call for a Permanent Public Artwork at Malta International Airport. Artists, collectives, and studios are invited to propose a site-specific contemporary artwork for the Schengen arrivals corridor at Malta International Airport — a highly visible public space experienced by millions of travellers each year. This permanent intervention offers an opportunity to create a meaningful artistic encounter within one of Malta’s most significant points of arrival. Proposals may take the form of a singular installation or a series of interconnected works that respond to the architectural, spatial, and emotional context of arrival. The selected project will form part of the airport’s evolving arts and culture vision, transforming a transit corridor into a contemporary cultural experience through public art. The Open Call is in collaboration with ARTZ ID.Agency as part of the arts and culture strategy for Malta International Airport. To learn more, visit: https://bit.ly/4e0f1P8 or request the Expression of Interest documentation by contacting: [email protected] 🔔Deadline : Friday 29th May till 11am @maltairport #linkinbio

Featured work by @mattschembri13 part of Echoes of the Future at KBIC ħabel (‘rope’) is an outdoor public art installation inspired by the similar shapes of a tower crane and gallows, both resembling an inverted ‘L’ (or a Greek/Cyrillic ‘Г’). This shape represents the simplest form of gallows, ofen depicted in the popular guessing game Hangman. The artwork displays a golden noose, lacking a loop, hatched to the hook block of a privately owned tower crane in the Maltese Islands. ħabel examines the relationship between mental health and over-construction. The absence of the loop symbolises lives lost to suicide and the repercussions of excessive construction. The rope’s golden hue enhances the tower crane, emphasising the construction industry’s influence in Malta. The exhibition is accessible via registration for the following opening hours until the 10th of May. ⚪Weekdays from 4-6pm ⚪Weekends 10am-1pm and 4-6pm 📍 Kordin Business Incubation Centre, Paola Register on [email protected]

Featuring work by @movingeedit now exhibited atEchoes of the Future. Fluidity Of Being” is an experience exploring man’s disconnection and appeals for reconciliation. The project interprets eastern philosophy’s remark of flow as an influence on one’s struggle in reconciling their relationship to the external; that which is not the one. Interpretations of isolation and alienation accumulate as they are processed through the structure of being. The exhibition is accessible via registration for the following opening hours until the 10th of May. ⚪Weekdays from 4-6pm ⚪Weekends 10am-1pm and 4-6pm 📍 Kordin Business Incubation Centre, Paola Register on [email protected]

Featuring work by Alex Weenink @trumpetweenink part of Echoes of the Future. ALL THE WAYS I DON’T/WANT TO LIVE is a visual and poetic exercise in speculation and affirmation, exploring Alex Weaning’s personal utopic desires and greatest dystopic fears in relation to space and environment, people and politics, and self and emotions. The work consists of a triptych of coloured and transparent acrylic sheets suspended above the ground and viewed all-round. Each sheet displays an artwork and a poem, depicting a utopic vision of the future on one side, while a dystopic vision exists on the other. Each artwork, and therefore each speculative future, exists in conversation with the others, prompting questions about their possibility to co-exist. All the ways I Don’t/Want to Live, Mixed media on Transparent Acrylic, Triptych, 420 x 549mm , 2025 The exhibition is accessible via registration for the following opening hours until the 10th of May. ⚪Weekdays from 4-6pm ⚪Weekends 10am-1pm and 4-6pm 📍 Kordin Business Incubation Centre, Paola Register on [email protected]

Featuring works by Sarah Maria Scicluna @sarahfekruna part of Echoes of the Future. ✨This series is born from a journey of transforming my digital paintings and collages into new forms through algorithmic interpretation. Each piece might contain familiar elements, these works are deeply rooted in the imagery of the internet, reflecting its relentless cycle of creation, dissemination, and disintegration—an exploration that drives this series of work. By using pen plotters—tools of precision and control—along with paint, the process introduced unpredictability, challenging me to let go of control. This has opened up a space for exploration where the boundaries between construction and deconstruction blur. In this work, images are treated like code—broken down and reassembled, existing in the space between human intention and machine execution. It is an inquiry into the relationship between human creativity and machine processing. Featured works : Some Birds are Made of Cotton Candy, The Mad Green Face, Asking Questions is a Good Way of Finding Things, oil on canvas, 800 x 600 mm, 2024 The exhibition is accessible via registration for the following opening hours until the 10th of May. ⚪Weekdays from 4-6pm ⚪Weekends 10am-1pm and 4-6pm 📍 Kordin Business Incubation Centre, Paola Register on [email protected]
