Pulling a “Grid Print” proof! Having created two plates for my new etching, “The Fool” , I next want to see which colors will work together. I ink up the warm plate with eight colors in horizontal stripes and the cool or key plate with six colors in horizontal stripes. The resulting proof shows 48 color combinations!!!

Here is my first completed plein air drawing from Montauk for 2026. At least it was started as a plein air drawing-finished in the studio. The erosion over the winter was dramatic, bringing a new character to familiar formations. There is always something new to observe!
