We're taking part in Refugee Week (15 - 21st June) with free a screening of 'A World Not Ours' in The Island Gallery.
A World Not Ours is an intimate, humorous, portrait of three generations of
exile in the refugee camp of Ein el-Helweh, in southern Lebanon.
Based on a wealth of personal recordings, family archives, and historical footage, the film is a sensitive, and illuminating study of belonging, friendship, and family.
Filmed over more than 20 years by multiple generations of the same family, A World Not Ours is more than just a family portrait; it is an attempt to record what is being forgotten, and mark what should not be erased from collective memory.

In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. That evidence is now on the public record.
The People’s Emergency Briefing is a new film from the National Emergency Briefing, a public information initiative to ensure the UK is clearly and honestly briefed on the climate and nature crisis. Building on the landmark National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, the film features footage from the event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces.
Bristol Greenpeace group is hosting a showing of the film on Saturday 16th May 2026 in the Sparks Bristol ground floor Department Of Discovery.
Doors Open at 2.30pm and the film starts at 3.00pm (running time 50 minutes) with discussion time afterwards.
