honored to be in conversation with my collaborative partner
@artsemerson exploring narrative, music, and the ongoing work of Black liberation..
so much of what I shared connects deeply to the heart of Connecting with our Ancestral Lineages, my creative series — a living exploration of memory, ritual, storytelling, food, and the ways our histories continue to move through us.
I keep thinking about how music carries what archives often cannot: grief, resistance, survival, longing, joy, instruction, prayer. It reminds us that liberation is not only political. it is cultural, spiritual, and deeply embodied.
grateful to be in conversation with brilliant thinkers, artists, and cultural workers such as
@ajatheethnomusicologist and
@lizzycooperdavis #imagining what it means to remember ourselves back into relationship with each other and with our ancestors. ✨🫀 it was so special to have my collaborators in the audience for this conversation including
@ife_franklin_slave_narrative and
@marleneboyette
🎶 “Narrative and Music as Tools of Black Liberation” with
@wgbh Forum Network and
@artsemerson
