Join our founder in Geneva for ✨From Soil to Spirits : Small Rituals of Coming Together✨ Dreams and speculative visions are acts of reclamation, we reassert our agency and refuse the limitations imposed upon us. In a world where oppressive systems act to control identities, land, and bodies, imagining otherwise is itself resistance. Where extractive economies benefits from burnout, anxiety, imposter syndrome and isolation, small rituals of coming together, friendships, communal acts, shared meals, moments of rest, collective imagination, become acts of defiance and healing. We reclaim space for diverse ways of being, loving, and relating: not just as an act of survival, but as a way to create worlds beyond the structures that seek to contain us. With special thanks to our hosts @sheelasha_rajbhandari @hitmaangurung @embassy.of.foreign.artists

Poignant and powerful coverage of our artist Maira Kulikovska in The New York Times. The Naked Sentry... One other work remains in the Fine Arts Museum, Maria Kulikovska’s “Venus,” a naked woman modeled on the artist’s own body and cast in 2019 from ballistic soap with infused flowers. It was too delicate to move. Ballistic soap is used by the arms industry to test the damage projectiles will inflict on a body, how big the hole is at the entry point and what direction sundering will take. “It has a similar consistency to the human body,” Ms. Kulikovska told me. The extraordinary statue stands alone now in the museum’s central baroque room, under a chandelier, beneath the decorative cherubs. It seems intensely human and vulnerable, everything Catherine the Great in her portrait is not. /2022/08/19/world/europe/odesa-ukraine-putin-russia.html

Watch our latest Artist Interview Series with @noor.bahjat . Link in Bio. Bahjat is a surrealist self-portrait artist working in a painterly expressionistic style with a primarily figurative subject matter. Creating deeply atmospheric canvases with her reoccurring female protagonist, Bahjat is able to address the intricacies of life. Upon visiting the Philippines in 2016 Bahjat’s palette and visual narrative drastically changed, moving (away from dark and static compositions) toward illuminated backgrounds incorporating elements of nature and water within her portraits. Allowing her subconscious to take control Bahjat depicts densely filled imaginative narratives in still-life settings that yearn for a more simple life. #noorbahjat #syrianart

Bahjat studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, the University of Damascus from which she graduated with honours. Although struggling with perspective throughout her entire degree, Bahjat was able to transform this weakness into her iconic still-life style. Her work is housed in public and private collections throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. #noorbahjat #syrianartist

Watch our latest Artist Interview Series with @noor.bahjat . Link in Bio. Skillfully transitioning between warm and cool palettes Noor Bahjat creates deeply atmospheric canvases infused with reoccurring, symbolic objects exploring the human form with attention to mundane moments in life. The Portrayed figures are expressionless variations of herself, her thoughts, and observation of others. #noorbahjat #syrianart
