For Almer Moneda, the past is never distant—it lives through memory, image, and imagination. Drawing from photographs and stories of Old Manila, Moneda reinterprets scenes of markets, calesas, and stately figures through striking black-and-white forms set against vivid fields of color. Bridging nostalgia and modernity, his works reflect how history continues to shape the present and how collective memory can remain alive through art.
This issue also features reflections on the legacy of Antipas Delotavo, a closer look at the intricate practice of Adam Pereyra, and an exploration of Philippine art fair experiences, alongside other compelling stories on contemporary art and cultural memory.

Art Plus asks: Are fans really allowed to grieve?

Not just a biopic, but a time machine. Michael moonwalks past nostalgia to reconstruct Michael Jackson as something younger audiences rarely experience anymore: a truly shared pop culture phenomenon.
Through spectacle, restraint, and mythmaking, the film asks a bigger question too—when a legacy becomes contested terrain, can cinema still tell the truth, or only preserve the myth?

Amanda Juico Dela Cruz reflects on Imelda Cajipe Endaya’s ‘Filipina DH’ installation as a powerful archive of migrant women’s labor, tracing how domestic objects become witnesses to displacement, invisibility, and structural inequality across generations of Filipina workers.
Through ‘Kahapon Muli Bukas,’ the installation’s homecoming revisits unresolved histories surrounding labor migration, connecting names like Mary Jane Veloso and Flor Contemplacion to enduring cycles of sacrifice, absence, and remembrance.
