Interpretation Australia 2023 National Conference on the 9th November was a dynamic professional development experience. Art of Multimedia’s Beata Kade (re-elected as IA Treasurer at the AGM) was one of the day’s speakers, presenting a short paper detailing Murrook Culture Centre’s Community-lead Digital Interpretation. Beata’s presentation responded to the main theme of the conference: ‘What is interpretation – a personalised view.
"In my view Community is the answer, and the Murrook Culture Centre is an excellent example of that, as this interpretive experience was fully co-created with the Community at every stage. The story of the Worimi people, whose story this is, with their personal and professional perspectives, to the specialists that helped them deliver the experience for their own Community and the broader community to enjoy, this digital interpretation is storytelling that is authentic, inclusive, innovative, and importantly a platform ready for the continued evolution by design of the living Worimi culture.”

Murrook Culture Centre is open to the public and a must-see for anyone interested in learning about the history, the Culture, the achievements directly from the welcoming, strong community of the Worimi people. AOM has been honoured to collaborate with the Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council Elders, CEO and Museum Gallery Curator to bring the digital experiences components of their grand vision to life.
Located in Williamtown, NSW, Murrook Culture Centre also offers fun and culturally enriching Sand Dune Adventures, a unique conference centre and a coffee shop, so a perfect spot to visit and spend some time whenever heading north from Sydney.
