āØMEET LOUSILLIA ā Visual Artist & VisionaryāØ
āAs We Are.āĀ is a portrait series created in celebration of Marchās International Womenās Month, highlighting women and femme creatives who contribute to Bostonās vibrant cultural community. Through conversation, reflection, and visual storytelling, each participant shares insight into their creative practice, lived experiences, and evolving sense of identity. The series centers their voices, their journeys, and the ways they shape culture through their work. Together, these stories form a collective reflection on creativity, resilience, and community.

Lousillia is a creative down to her core. She truly makes beauty with everything she touches. From modeling, painting, gardening, to when she was making custom tie dye clothes (iykyk). Her ability to think outside of the box & express authentically is undoubtedly amazing. Itās such a blessing to grow up along side her, not just as a creative, but as a friend. Weāve been friends since ā08 (crazy) ā fun fact: Lou was my first subject when I started picking up a camera! Lou has always been a great example that being an artist should never me limiting to one medium ā but a broad label that encourages growth. Thank you so much for being apart of this project! š¤
āTree, of Lifeā (2026)
Acrylic paint & colored pencil on a 24x24 canvas
Being from the earth, no matter what stage of life we are in, nature will always root and heal us. We instinctively return to Nature throughout the cycle of our lives; drawn & comforted by its timeless, yet ever-changing atmosphere that welcomes and reconnects us to ourselves and the beyond.
I painted a human baby within the rings (the womb) of a cut-down tree to symbolize life/death, longevity, home, and memory. The treeās rings & the womb reflects the connection between humanity and nature āour beginning (life) and our return (death)ā revealing the shared DNA that connects us humans to the natural world as one continuously living entity. Connecting our birth of the future, from our rooted past, in the present.
PS: if you scroll to the last photo youāll see the cut tree stump that sparked this whole reflective & creative piece šŖµ just like the people I saw in the clouds on a drive home, God showed me something in this stump that would put me on a path of connection to the beauty of self & nature & Iām so happy with how my heart & brain was able to express it š¤

āBanana Cycleā (2026)
Acrylic on a 36x36 canvas š
One day I was thinking about how beautiful bananas are at every stage of ripening & decided to paint my reflection. I chose a warm Caribbean blue for the background because it felt like home to me and it ultimately allowed each bananaās greens, yellows, + browns to vibrantly breathe.
Paying close attention to texture and smaller details like the freckles, gradual shifts in tone.. Nothing is perfectly uniform, and nothing is meant to be. Even in their ripest or most āexpiredā states, bananas still carry depth and beauty. This painting is my way of honoring that growth, change, & capturing the beauty of time.

šØ POV: Youāre a crazy artist, with crazy hair, painting 3 different crazy paintings at crazy hours, living out a crazy answered prayer, in a crazy cool studio space, that younger you would call you crazy for if you told her this would be her life. š„²š¤

Best thing about painting more than 1 canvas at a time is that:
- I never get bored
- If I feel stuck on a project I can take my time figuring out how to reroute by taking a break & working on something else
- I can do a little here & a little there w/o needing too much #tunnelvision
- Thereās capacity to try new techniques & freestyle since each project is different
- I accept that Iām not great at single-tasking when I paint so my brain is happy to jump around, piece to piece
(THIS IS ALSO WHY I TAKE SO LONG TO FINISH! šØš¤£)

Itās also funny to see the different painting postures I have lol I know Iām not the only one like this!
