Me ________________________________ Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei on the façade of MDD The seventh poster of the PLAKT project has been installed on our façade. In this initiative by Artlead, works by twelve artists appear unexpectedly in different locations. This month, visitors can discover Inhale Me by Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei. A geometric form and the words “inhale me” are visible in the image. The form, built up from circles and lines, resembles a pipe or a medical inhaler. By isolating these elements and relocating them to the public space, an intimate message suddenly gains a more political resonance. Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei, Inhale Me

EN On the façade of de Garage the next poster from the PLAKT series has been hung. In Peter Downsbrough's RE/SET (2024) you see a tilted rectangle with the words RE and SET. As one of his last creations, the work can be read as a silent call to never come a standstill, but to always restart. A reset. PLAKT is a collaboration with Artlead in which 12 artists present posters in different cities in Belgium. Foto's @wouterslavinia #kunsthalmechelen #contemporaryart #extramuros

A new commission for Museumplein by Veronika Bezdenejnykh is now on view between MSK and SMAK in Ghent. Bezdenejnykh developed a series of flags inspired by walks through the Wondelgemstraat, in Ghent’s Rabot neighbourhood where she lived for years: an arrival district where an Afghan baker, Romanian delicacies, an Asian Dumpling House and a Turkish decoration shop exist side by side. Bezdenejnykh photographed details of menus, interiors and cake batter, bringing them together with elements from her digital archive and decorative patterns from the facade of the Museum of Fine Arts. With “Images from Home”, she brings a neighbourhood that rarely stands in the spotlight to the heart of the museum quarter. Museumplein is a project by artlead and S.M.A.K, supported by the City of Ghent. #VeronikaBezdenejnykh #museumplein #artlead #smakgent #mskgent #rabot #wondelgemstraat @smakgent @vero_nika_bez @artlead

Mekhitar Garabedian, Alep (Bronze Lamp) ______________________________ Mekhitar Garabedian on the facade of MDD The sixth poster of the PLAKT project has just been installed on our facade. In this initiative by Artlead, works by twelve artists appear unexpectedly at various locations. This month, visitors can discover the work Alep (Bronze Lamp) by Mekhitar Garabedian. The image depicts a Syrian postage stamp featuring a bronze oil lamp in the shape of a horse, printed with the words “par avion,” “Alep,” and the date 27.08.’81. This date marks a personal moment—Garabedian was born in Aleppo and emigrated with his family to Belgium in 1981. The stamp originates from a letter sent to his father in Antwerp, where the family lived during their first year after arriving in Belgium. Garabedian alters the image, rendering it estranging and elusive. By reversing the colours of the original stamp, he obscures the original image from view, making it inaccessible—much like aspects of the past that remain out of reach, preserved yet transformed by time and memory. ANASTASIA BAY – NIGHT MOTHER Dok-Noord 5L, 9000 Ghent 01/02/2026 – 31/05/2026 In Night Mother, a small cat rests in the lap of a leaning figure, its fragile body at once tender and tense. Around them, glimpses of other lives and events appear at the edges, faint reminders of struggle and vigilance beyond the immediate scene. This quiet tension sets the tone for Anastasia Bay’s recent series, where a collage of different gestures invite reflection on fragility, resilience, and the rhythms of everyday life. Bay’s most recent work balances private moments of care with the pressures of the wider world, reflecting her evolving attention to both human presence and the subtle moods that shape our experience. Text: @natalija.gucheva Billboard Series is a long-term art in public space project at Dok Noord, Ghent. Part of the former industrial port, this area is currently a section of the inner city ring, and is in full development to be reconverted into one of Ghent’s new quarters. Billboard Series is a sequence of site-specific art commissions, occupying a 50 square meters billboard on the South façade of 019. Each year, four artists are invited to create a work that considers the status of the image and fosters a productive dialogue with the surrounding neighbourhood and urban landscape. The presentation of each new Billboard will be accompanied by an evening curated by the artist, filled with lectures, performances, film or music. Billboard Series is a project in collaboration with @artlead . All billboards are curated by @trjbc @bay.anastasia

Revisiting an earlier series 🌾🤍 Charif Benhelima’s Regeneration series was made for Triënnale Kortrijk — a sequence of Polaroid photographs of the same plant, each one reinterpreted through Benhelima’s hand-painting. The plant is an ‘exotic species’: one that doesn’t naturally belong in Belgium. In painting over it, Benhelima deliberately blurs the photographic context, making the images slippery and interchangeable — like memories that fade and shift over time. It’s part of his broader “Ubiquitas” research, in which Benhelima — born in Antwerp to Moroccan parents, now based between Bruges and Malmö — uses his lens to confront the contradictory identities that have shaped him. Each work in this series is completely unique. Regeneration Acrylic on polaroid 600 color instant film, with hand-painted passe-partout in artist frame Frame 43,1 cm x 35,3 cm / Polaroid 11 x 9 cm Sequence of 10 unique images Last copies available on artlead.net — link in bio — or send a DM 📮 #charifbenhelima #regeneration #polaroid #handpainted #uniquework #contemporaryphotography #artlead #belgianart #artlead #collectart #ubiquitas #kortrijktriennale #identityinart #affordableart #limitededition
