In recent days artists Derek Stenborg @derekstenborg and Kelly O’Brien @kellyobrienart were working very hard on making possible a first considerable large exhibition of the We the People Photography Project @we_the_people_photo_project_ . It is very unfortunate, but the proposal to do this exhibit in their community was rejected by a group of other artists and community organizers in their are arguing that this project was politically motivated. We have said time and again that this project is a celebration of diversity and inclusion. At the center of this project is an art piece created by visual artist Kathleen Anderson @artkamp . The art piece has an obvious social resonance, and is imbedded with hope and positivity. It is very sad and unsettling that a group of artists are opposing this project based on political prejudice. The photos show here are just a fraction of the prints that we have and that we will hopefully be displaying on our first exhibition of this project. The prints are in full color. Please visit the website @ and read more about the intention of this project and explore all the portraits that we have captured so far. Follow the instagram account @we_the_people_photo_project_ . Reach out to us through the “contact” section of our website if you want to help in any way. We will continue moving on! It might be slow, but it’s movement! #uptateartweekend #falloffreedom #art #socialart
Plastic material emerges from mass production and modern packaging becoming an intimate part of our lives. I collect my plastic waste as material that holds onto its history, identity under all conditions giving sentience to these intimate sculptures I call “technofossils”
