title: Art it Forward year: 2024 caption: Leaving my previous role to launch my own venture, ‘Art it Forward’ just felt natural. The idea for ‘Art it Forward’ solidified after consistent meetings where my innovative ideas seemed to stall, without tangible action. Leading the art department at the time, I envisioned a clear, impactful future for the students. However, differing visions with the organization prompted me to take the leap and create ‘Art it Forward.’ It was a natural step, given my experience building the department and running an Art Show from scratch. While my previous organization aimed to help students with autism find jobs, my mission with ‘Art it Forward’ is to CREATE those jobs – jobs where each individual can truly flourish. You’ll soon have the opportunity to witness the incredible work of these artists! But first, I want to take a moment to recap the inspiring art show from that year. ‘Art it Forward’ is just the beginning.

Today on World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate the strengths, talents, and unique experiences of individuals on the autism spectrum, while continuing to build more inclusive and supportive communities 💙 Through our programs for newcomer families with children who have special needs, we’ve seen how powerful art can be in this journey - creating space for expression, connection, and understanding beyond words 🎨 Today, we’re proud to share a special moment from our mural art project with the FIS (Families in Settlement Together) program—where newcomer youth came together to express their stories, and lived experiences through art in #scarborough 🖌️ A heartfelt thank you to our community artist Vithunan from @artitforward_ for leading this inspiring program, and @scarborougharts for making this project possible.
