I’ve been in research mode for what feels like forever for the buildout @sauvie_island_botanical_garden Working to make sure the native plants chosen encourage and support the bees, birds, beavers and everything in between. Planting is on the books to happen in March and I couldn’t be more excited for it to finally come to fruition.
Most of my summer was spent going back and forth between Portland and Nevada to take care of my Dad. Every spare moment I had was spent searching for joy.
It’s been a year since I drove back to the Midwest to work on my house. I was in the middle selling it to a family who had previously lived there. They were looking forward to their children growing up in the house. Then an arsonist burned the house down. I was and am devastated. He plead guilty but my insurance denied my claim. I’m still on the hook for taxes and my mortgage despite it being a total loss. In an effort to process everything I started to go on long walks. I was hoping for clarity. I noticed I was taking photos of bees, flowers and trees, all things that bring a smile to my face. Then I started to capture people experiencing moments of joy in the everyday. This is how Project Joy began. Follow along as I share photos and stories from my search for joy.
My time in Crested Butte in a nutshell saw old friends made new friends. Spent quality time with my sister & family. Narrowly escaped getting the flu by having my cake for breakfast with all the vitamins. Experienced cabin fever, worked out, shoveled, stress baked and imbibed. It wasn’t all play I made 2 websites: @1903suites and coming soon @sauvie_island_tea_co !!! Thanks to the friends who drove me to gunni and town. Thanks to the friends who put up with me when I had a way too much to drink. There’s just something about crested butte that always pulls me back. So I’ll be back soon…

When life hands you lemons (or squirts them in your eyes) obviously you should cut bangs, get a tattoo, and go.., first Spain with old friends whom I’m so grateful to have in my life! Then make friends with the locals, and obviously go to France!!!! Bordeaux was so lovely… more to come on the trip
