Video work: January 2567 📹
January 2567 is the title of Apichaya Wanthiang’s large-scale installation, which also serves as the title of her exhibition at Artipelag. In the exhibition’s opening gallery, a video work transports the viewer to the rural village of Ban Tow Hai in north-eastern Thailand, from which the artist originates. The work depicts nocturnal scenes: people cycling along a darkened road, tapping rubber trees, catching crickets.
The video is projected onto lengths of fabric stitched from a mesh textile used in the construction of cricket cages. The unruly properties of this industrial material intermittently distort the projection, causing the scenes to move in and out of abstraction. The image is cast through multiple layers of fabric, rendering its reproduction progressively less distinct — akin to an image losing information each time it is saved, or to a memory subtly displaced with each retelling.

🐚 Kokong/Skal – Now reinstalled for the exhibition Sculpture in Nature
In Artipelag’s outdoor exhibition Sculpture in Nature, Annika Liljedahl is represented with the work Kokong/Skal (1997) – a sculpture made of silk, varnish, steel wire, pins, and acrylic paint. Since 2021, the piece has been part of Artipelag’s collection, and in the summer of 2025 it was installed in the forest as part of the outdoor exhibition.
Annika Liljedahl (b. 1946) graduated from Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, in 1968. In her practice, Liljedahl explores our relationship with our surroundings and, by extension, with nature itself. Her works shift between seriousness, humour, and satire, often addressing themes of life affirmation and the transformation of life forms.

Final weekend of Accumulated Stacks – free admission to the exhibition!
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the 2026 Fredrik Roos Scholarship exhibition by Kim Andreas Roland Berger. Accumulated Stacks moves between sculpture and painting, exploring how the two can come together in installations that activate the relationship between artwork, space and viewer.
In his paintings, Roland Berger works in layers, where thin, flowing brushstrokes meet geometric forms and thicker applications of oil that build texture across the surface. The surroundings of his family farm in Frogn, Norway – where he also has his studio – influence both his motifs and colour palette.
Take the opportunity to explore the exhibition before it closes on 14 May!

Mucha and his breakthrough in Paris – take a piece of his visual world home 🌸
When Alphonse Mucha (b. 1860, Czech Republic) arrived in Paris in 1887, he was still an unknown artist. Seven years later, everything changed when he created the poster for Gismonda.
Commissioned at the last minute by the renowned actress Sarah Bernhardt, the poster broke with the conventions of its time – with its tall, elegant composition and richly detailed style.
The result was a breakthrough. Captivated by Mucha’s imagery, Sarah Bernhardt initiated a collaboration that would come to define an entire era.
In Mucha – Beyond Art Nouveau at Artipelag, you can experience how these iconic motifs are brought to monumental scale in an immersive setting – and also take a piece of this visual world home. In the Design Shop, you’ll find a selection of Mucha-inspired products, from books and postcards to posters and pins.
