Are you a Believer? - or Not?
If we were to believe all the media and the office for Foreign Affairs - we would probably stay at home and cower in fear.
Yes - many people have asked us if we are not afraid to travel to countries like Pakistan, Iran, Iraq or Saudi Arabia.
The answer is not easy to be honest. Before this trip my most impressive travel experience was Vietnam and for Ziss vacation in Tarifa... so we’ve been in this time completely inexperienced outside of Europe.
Yes and no... yes, everything we read in the newspapers scares us. I think that’s what it’s supposed to do? For us, this means creating a mental balancing act between what is politics and what is society. The scary part is most because of reading news 🗞️
We felt the warmth ❤️ of the Iranians right from the start. However, we were not yet OPEN enough to get involved in the overwhelming situation.
Our first time in Iran was very confusing.
In search of a quiet place in nature, we unknowingly drove to the largest water reservoir in the Middle East and were escorted out of the area by the police, during that time our passports were out of our hands for over 3 hours.
Can you imagine how that feels?
The next moment we were invited and another day later we were given a good 360 liters of diesel as a gift. 🎁

Some impressions from Tabriz.
You have to imagine - there is a very special and quiet atmosphere in the bazaar 😻😲
Tabriz is the first larger city when you arrive from Armenia or Turkey. Here you can change money, get a SIM card, which was pointless at the time - because it was regulated by the state - and get ripped off by an English teacher! 💸🤑💰
Good moment to make other travelers aware of this and ask them to NOT advertise so-called “crass personal connections” which are on iOverlander as great contacts and to arrange them as fancy ones! 🙈✋🏽🚦
So watch out for the “English teacher” 👀
The English teacher was the only dude in the whole country who wants to rip you off - strategically - some tourists like it 🤣

It’s time to finally post about Iran! 🔥
On March 1, 2023, we both traveled to Iran completely inexperienced and naive. What we read in the media during this episode was not supportive of our mental health during a visit.
We were very tense - we would find out 5 months later on our next visit - it wasn’t an easy time in the country….
Iran was the first country for us where we had no bridge to the language and the writing was an absolute mystery. This meant that 80% of the signage was indecipherable. 😂🫣
But what I have to spoil here is:
Our visits to Iran were the absolute HIGHLIGHT of our trip - the loveliest people, the most incredible hospitality and and and....
But these are things we couldn’t quite get to grips with on our first visit.
It’s time to learn how to change our Central European way of thinking😉
