shifting presence
Building shelter from contact
Interactions across systems.
Ever-changing outcomes.
Collisions.
Regenerations.
Subtle.
Noisy.
Careful.
When close to fracture,
they still lean.
In narrowing time,
they insist.

My first raku
One of those pieces I wrapped up and let go off for life. Who knows how long a life in this form. What a beautiful thing, and those bits of nostalgia revealing layers of time overlapping.
Part of what makes it beautiful is the process, and I mean of the whole. Not just considering the moments between ‘making’ and ‘results’ but the process of letting go of a piece / of you. A part of me put into something physical. Who I was when I made it, the constant “was” when creating which is unique to every instant. Containing; attention, love and maybe not, but pure emotion I put into…
I could forget about soon. I am filled with a feeling, a joy filled with a tender ache. Time constantly revealing, and constantly witholding. A wonderful mystery, what it brings to others, where it will end up, if it will carry on to next generations.
The seahorses will forever be meaningful, the beginning of a phase, and in this phase, while literally making a seahorse, I received some unfortunate news on a family member. My heart ached, and my hands continued.
And for a closing on some instrospections on the power of letting go, and of sharing my work therefore myself to strangers, beyond this, and a couple of mediums
To be able to create, piecing, in peace, and have people interested in something I make, to want that “thing” that now is, that is a gift. And a gift that brings challenges and lessons is full of light.

Juliette Whittingslow is a visual artist from the U.S.A, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, specializing in painting, printmaking, and ceramics. Her work draws from organic forms and natural resources, often exploring bodily representations and evolving anatomies.
At Aviário Studio, the pieces she created emerged from an exploration with clay embodying movement and dance. Juliette sought to embody ideas of change and transformation as enduring themes in human existence.
Her sculptural practice seeks to foster connection—between people, the body, and nature—inviting reflection on how we shape and are shaped by the systems that sustain us.
