Art is love. Love is art. Boxing is an art too. Community is love... so community is art too. I’m really excited for this collaboration. I knew I needed an amazing soul to come bless the space I built for the youth and for Oakland, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s @artbyshido Growing up, I was always drawn to abstract art, tribal patterns, textures, and pieces that made you feel something deeper. Wow! Little by little, this space is starting to feel more like home. It truly takes a village, and I’m grateful for every person pouring love, creativity, and energy into this vision. Take a moment. May this serve as checkpoint reminder to return to self and express gratitude for the present. I wish you well on your journey. I’ve been dealing with a lot of grief lately and juggling a sense of imposter syndrome All the while my flow of creativity has felt stagnant, feels like I’ve been stumbling over myself with every step. I’ve had learn time and time again to remind myself that I don’t have to try and keep up a veil of being rooted when in reality chaos is swirling around and within me. I do have a personality of optimism but when I’m down I feel like I’m shouldering a seemingly unbearable weight while trying to keep up with friendships, family dynamics, and trying to build a career. I’ve taken a few steps in a better direction of mindfulness through reading, journaling, intentional time away from digital screens, investing in new hobbies…etc Maybe that’s what the of falling apart is for, stripping everything away to realize what really is serving to elevate the “good” parts of yourself but also the frustrating aspects of yourself. Either way I know dealing with grief is not a linear process and comes in waves unexpectedly at that but for me it has been almost a constant since I was younger and it’s never gotten easier, I’ve only become more aware of what to call it and how to try and feel my way through it in the moments it arises.
