Ceramic artist Marisa du Toit is drawn to the tactile and expressive nature of clay – a quiet conversation between her hands and the material. Based in Kommetjie, she creates and teaches from her studio at Art Assembly on Imhoff Farm, a space she founded to share her love of ceramics with others. Inspired by the textures of the natural world, her work explores the balance between form and feeling. She is also a mother of two, raising her children in the community she calls home.
This Women’s Month, we’re sharing stories from the women who shape Kommetjie Life – artists, makers and mothers rooted in place.
You can visit Marisa at her studio at Art Assembly, Imhoff Farm, which will be open for First Thursday from 5-8pm.

NEW WORKSHOP 🌸
Join me for the Spring Blooms pastel workshop, at the Art Assembly Studio in Imhoff Farm, Kommetjie.
You’ll learn my process to creating my botanical pastel drawing’s through exploring the techniques I use, such as layering, blending and textural mark making.
We will start with some loose line studies & use those techniques to create artworks you can take home. Bring with a reference image of a flower or flower & vase you’d like to draw. No experience is required. Please bring an apron if you prefer to use one.
